Yeah, I disagree with some of Jinger’s beliefs (I’m pro-choice and pro-trans rights for example and I’m pretty she she’s very much not). But I don’t think she’s a horrible person and if having a personal relationship with Jesus is how she’s unpacking a childhood full of religious trauma more power to her.

That’s not what I said, you’re assuming. Have you read the book? I said it’s horrible bc it’s dull, lacks narrative (very surface level) and she wastes 50% of content with scripture over and over.

My opinion on the book has nothing to do with her beliefs. I thought it was important for folks to understand her current belief system. Many incorrectly assume she is reformed but she’s not. She’s “disentangled” from Gothards strict teachings but is still VERY conservative.

Didnt say her beliefs are horrible. I grew up in a Christian family. The book is horrible- terribly dull and the media portrayed it as something different.

I was really hoping that this would be a documentary exposing IBLP/Gothard and families involved other than the Duggars.

I feel like this is just going to be a rehash of Josh's problems and at this point I need a new angle.

I’m about halfway through her book. I misinterpreted your post — while I’m not hating the book I can absolutely understand why someone would find it boring and poorly written. I think I’m less pessimistic about her beliefs than you are (although I am agree that she’s still extremely conservative and undoubtedly would think I’m terrible 😂) but again I respect your point of view here — neither of us know her personally and no one knows where her “disengagement” will take her with time and there’s no guarantee it will make her more liberal.

As I remember it, the doc originally was focused on IBLP but I’m sure bringing in the Duggar name was necessary to give the general public a reference point. If you’ve been following IBLP goings on all along, it probably won’t have much new info but the first hand interviews should be interesting either way.

I looked Fundi Fridays up on youtube, found the Duggarverse. I may go down this rabbit hole before the documentary is available, thank you maybe lol!! My dh and I grew up in IBLP homes with many other wacky/horrible Christian beliefs. Some of it, we can laugh about. My sil raised her kids IBLP/ATI

Fundie Fridays' host and creator Jen is in this documentary! Def check out her channel and "prepare"! I like that she discusses these families but does have some respect and compassion for the ones who are vulnerable and without options. It's not just a hatefest of "hahahaha lookit how stupid these ppl are!!!'

Gets deep into the IBLP. I knew it was messed up but not this messed up. As a citizen and taxpayer I’m pissed that ppl like Huckabee are so corrupt as to let this kid of abuse of women go on.
