Oh, I’m here for this. This whole family and belief system is a horror show.

Jessa seems kind of half in half out, I would have been surprised to see her participate.

Oh wow, I know nothing about that family, but that looks fascinating, if not horrifying. 🍿🍿

Meh, doesn't look like anything that's not already known (or maybe I just know way too much about them and that cult...)

This would be fun if it was just about them being culty and weird but I can’t handle another sexual abuse documentary, I’m still scarred from the Warren Jeff’s one.

Haven't they had enough publicity?

That’s what people on the subreddit said, but also, this will expose more of the general public to the cult and its issues

Jingers book was horrible. She’s super naive, judgmental and it’s pretty hypocritical.

FYI She’s still a super conservative Christian, being “free” to her meant having a more personal relationship with Jesus (je-sus as she pronounces it) as opposed to fearing god at every move.

My husband and I grew up evangelical and this was the book we were advised to read during our premarital counseling! I hadn’t thought about it in years! It at least taught basic anatomy, emphasized women’s orgasms and that husbands needed to learn to please their wives sexually, and if they had trouble to seek out professional help.

Some of my friends went into their wedding nights thinking everything was going to magically be awesome, and wow were they disappointed. As messed up as a lot of this book was, it was actually pretty helpful for my husband and me. (We ignored a lot of it even then, though. We did not believe in the submissive wife thing.)

Still together, 25 years, we’re Episcopalian now.

NP. That doesn't sound horrible. Do you know very many people? There are plenty of conservative religious people, they're not horrible.

Yeah, I disagree with some of Jinger’s beliefs (I’m pro-choice and pro-trans rights for example and I’m pretty she she’s very much not). But I don’t think she’s a horrible person and if having a personal relationship with Jesus is how she’s unpacking a childhood full of religious trauma more power to her.
