Do you fly economy to Europe with your kids?

Economy. I can't sleep anywhere on a plane, sadly. My kids could sleep on economy seats easily when they were little, and now they're teens, they want to stay up watching movies and playing video games. So buying a slightly more comfortable seat would be a waste of money.

When we fly to Asia, we do pay for Economy plus, which is the equivalent of what business class was when I was little on the same route. It's slightly more comfy than economy but not horribly more expensive.

No, private jet all the way.

Think you mean Premium Economy? It sounds similar, but that's the common marketing name of the international product that is similar to domestic first class. Economy Plus is the United term for their normal economy seats, spaced an extra 3 inches apart for.more legroom. But they are the same width and don't get different food, etc.

I fly 10 hours regularly back to uK from California with my DD. If we can afford premium economy we do it - I find the extra space and footrest worth it even if we don't get much sleep.

The seats in business turn into beds. I flew Business with my 9 y/o to Paris and it was absolutely worth it.

Yes, though we usually pay a little extra for premium economy or at least extra legroom seats. It’s fine. Not worth more than double when I’m flying 5 people abroad.
Just don’t do what the rude parents on our flight today did - book themselves in business and their kids in coach and then have their kids coming up to them throughout the flight. We were in the first row of premium economy and they were constantly passing.

Unless you’re super tall or super fat economy is fine.

I would say:

HHI less than $250K: Economy
HHI $250 to $500K: Premium Economy
HHI above $500K: Business

Nope. Our HHI is $650K and we always fly economy. First/business is a colossal waste of money.

How is it rude to… walk past people?

I suspect it only annoyed you because you’re a nosy Nellie and couldn’t help taking note of the situation, what it was the kids wanted, etc.

We only fly economy if it's a shuttle flight, like NY to Boston, or LA to SF. Anything longer and we fly business or first.

HHI above $500K and we always fly Premium Economy to Europe on miles. Kids sleep perfectly well on the way there, and does not really matter on the way back. We book our hotel as of the night before so we can check in immediately upon arrival.
