This is my suggestion too. We limit screen time but if we watch one of these, DD can watch for 60-90 minutes instead of my usual 25 minute limit. I find they tend to spark creativity and activity rather than making her zone out and then get upset when it’s time to turn the TV off. We watched one on the deep sea recently after a visit to the Monterey Aquarium and it really deepened her interest in sea life and led her to pick up some non-fiction books about the ocean at the library.

I consider this “good” screen time.

What about “real” videos? I watch classical piano concerts on YouTube with my kindergartener. He doesn’t take music lessons or anything, we just like listening and he likes watching the conductor.

Just wanted to echo Dino Dana. I love it so much. On Netflix my kid likes Brainchild, Izzy's Koala World, Emily's Wonder Lab, Ada Twist Scientist, Creature Cases, Justin Time, Octonauts. On Netflix there is some good random stuff. She likes Finding Stuff Out, Operation Ouch. We've also found cbeebies stuff there or alternatively on Netflix, Amazon, etc. like Mister Maker, Boj. And also to echo above, we do a LOT of audiobooks, either on the Yoto player or just from the library on my phone.
