JD Vance introduces bill to make English the official language of the US

Anonymous
It’s been a stupid culture war bill for decades. Why are so many Americans this stupid.

Is he still against Ukraine even though his voters are descended from Ukraine, which he had not realized?

Vance is worried about people who speak imperfect English as their second language... What will this bill mean for a lot of those Republican voters who can barely speak and write English as their first language let alone manage a second language..

Private polling probably shows that abusing trans people and banning books isn’t quite as winning as they’d hope so they’re going to recycle some classics. I haven’t heard this one since the early 2000s at the latest.

Next up: satanic panic!

I mean it would be nice to stop spending so much money on translating anything snd everything

English is the de facto official language.

What’s wrong with making it official? Not seeing any issue here. This congressional vote should be unanimous.

“Where’s his wife from anyway? Seriously, why are republicans so racist?”

Do you even hear yourself?

If you want to make money in this country, you need to speak English. It’s harder to learn a foreign language as an adult. (Some of you only speak one language so won’t know this.) Older immigrants are trying. It costs you nothing to be kind.

Vance is a loser who isn’t smart enough to identify and address the real problems in America.

A cutting edge issue demanding a swift response

+1000

The person who got all panicked about being like India wrt languages is from another planet. We all know India has big problems because of so many immigrants who don't want to learn Hindi, right?

Not aggressively, frenetically pushing for more federal regulations and relief money for East Palestine? Seems a weird priority.

I guess you didn’t hear about his Railway Safety Act.

I sure didn’t.
Would you please link it.

What is the point of these frivolous bills?

I think some people call it virtue signaling.

I did. And then he immediately pivoted to….racist dog whistle.

When I said “frenetic” and “aggressive” I mean you should not be able to get this guy on TV without him talking about East Palestine. I mean you should not have a single Fox spot where he’s not pushing for additional safety and funding. I mean— brace yourself— he should be willing to make compromises with the other side to achieve this goal. Not check the box. That’s what I’d expect from my senator if toxic waste was in my back yard.

Ok. That’s a bipartisan bill helmed by Sherrod Brown, but I’m glad to see republicans on board.
