Older neighbors

Most 50 year olds I know are running around with kid’s sports/activities all weekend. Where do you live that 50 year olds are hiding in their homes all weekend?

65 and 70 here. Retired so we no longer have to jam all activities, chores, shopping, appointments, socializing, etc., into the weekend. We have the entire week to take care of everything.

You, on the other hand, need to quit spying on us and get your own life. Or at least get a better imagination.

How do you know they don't leave? I had a neighbor once comment that I was basically a shut in because my car never moved. Spoiler alert: I drove my car 1x a week and most other days walked or walked to public transit.

There is a big difference between 50 (might still have teens in the house and probably still has a big job) and 70 (been an empty nester for a while and probably retired for a while too).

If you’re so busy and out and about all of the time how do you know your neighbors stay home?

50 = old?

You are too young to be spying on your neighbors, OP.

My in laws spend their weekdays driving around and going on day trips to museums and national parks and such. They get to avoid the crowds that way.

Sometimes they take longer trips for seniors that run Monday to Thursday or Monday to Friday, actually.

Yep. This is one of the most ridiculous posts ever. I’m 50 and my hsuband is 56. We spend time running around with our TEN YEAR OLD. Same for many of our friends — although some of them are running around with teens and some with grandkids. None of our 50-something friends are recluses.

Really poor spying skills, OP. You need to be more scientific about this. Watch one of your neighbors at a time for, say, two weeks. If you can't watch them 24x7, then get some cameras. Document the date and time of when they leave and when they come home. Note if they are loading/unloading the car. Also track if people come to their home, how many, and how long they stay.

Repeat this for all of your older neighbors. Then report back to us.

PS: please confirm if you're living in an over 55 housing complex or in assisted living.

I'm telling you Harold, they're STILL IN THERE! They've been in there ALL WEEKEND!

Don't they have anything BETTER TO DO?

Take your meds, grandma. Maybe your kids will want to visit you again someday.

Pp you response makes zero sense.

Are you in your twenties? 50+ isn’t “old”, they are likely still working full time. Maybe your particular neighbors are just homebodies.

It’s very odd that you are generalizing to all people 50+. You need to get out in the world more. Sorry to be harsh.
