| DC suburbs better than Boston suburbs. Boston housing is charming but old and expensive |
|
I’m black and I experienced so much easier racism when I lived in Boston.
In DC, I’ve experienced none. |
DC is boring. Boston is an a-hole magnet. |
WOW, what a way to put down blue collar workers. You’re an ass. |
+1 Feel better about yourself now, other PP? Probably not. |
Why? Because they don't think about DC, at all? |
Yeah, but black people tend to hate on whites in DC, and it is perfectly acceptable, so there is that. |
+1 Other PP, tell us you have not been to Boston without telling us you have not been to Boston. |

Boston without question.
4 true seasons. One of the only places that gets a "real" fall, spring, summer, and winter without any of them being too harsh. The city is right on the ocean which means a beautiful waterfront, great boating culture and opportunities to get out on the water. Also the Boston harbor islands. Highly educated population. Beautiful public parks. Distinct neighborhoods with their own personalities and historic architecture. World class museums and art programs. Best medial care in the country if not the world. BSO. Sports and the fans. The theatre district. Very walkable city. The top universities in the world. And the very best thing about Boston may be the quick and easy access to so many beautiful places in New England. Gorgeous beaches 45 min away and great skiing just a few hours north in VT and NH. Coastal Maine is only a little over an hour away, same with the Cape. DC is rough for beaches and mountains - you have to go so far and they aren't great even when you do. Boston is so expensive but it's because people are willing to pay it to live there. Quality of life may be the best in the US |
Boston is crazy expensive. You're only going to find blue collar situations outside of the city or in a few pockets that haven't yet been gentrified. It's a very wealthy city and biotech is rapidly pushing it more in that direction. |
np I am so tired of this variation. "Tell us you don't have kids without saying you don't have kids" This is becoming so tiresome! |
This is not true at least not yet. My SIL moved away from their because the winters are so long and tough. Now maybe if global warming happens that will change. I'm not against Boston but, sports is not a good reason to move anywhere |
Meant There of course. I am sleepy. |
|
Having lived in both places, I prefer Boston by far.
Why: Proximity to ocean and mountains, lovely small towns, neighborhood charm. There's just more character and a less transient population. DC's suburbia is a lot of beige condos and "planned communities" and chains. |
| Neither. Both places have too many goofy white people |
