The city is right on the ocean which means a beautiful waterfront, great boating culture and opportunities to get out on the water. Also the Boston harbor islands.

Highly educated population. Beautiful public parks. Distinct neighborhoods with their own personalities and historic architecture. World class museums and art programs. Best medial care in the country if not the world. BSO. Sports and the fans. The theatre district. Very walkable city.  The top universities in the world.

And the very best thing about Boston may be the quick and easy access to so many beautiful places in New England. Gorgeous beaches 45 min away and great skiing just a few hours north in VT and NH. Coastal Maine is only a little over an hour away, same with the Cape. DC is rough for beaches and mountains - you have to go so far and they aren't great even when you do.

Boston is so expensive but it's because people are willing to pay it to live there. Quality of life may be the best in the US

This is not true at least not yet.  My SIL moved away from [b]their[/b] because the winters are so long and tough.  Now maybe if global warming happens that will change.  I'm not against Boston but, sports is not a good reason to move anywhere[/quote]
