| Both are educated cities. Both have cream of the crop white collar jobs with high salaries. Weather is probably worse in Boston in the winter while DC gets more mosquitoes in the summer. Cost of living seems somewhat conmparable. Both have tons of history. Which city is better overall for living in and why? I have a huge potential job opportunity in Boston. It'd be a big effort to move up there though from here. |
| City of dc is better—green, walkable, diverse, better food. The suburbs of Boston are better—scenic, proximity to water, etc. |
| Absolutely love Boston but I’d struggle in those winters. |
| I think Boston‘s good suburbs are closer in, and with better schools. As for the cities themselves, I just like Boston crowds better, fewer questionable characters overall. |
| I miss Boston. So much better than DC. |
| Boston. No question. Lower crime and lower sketch and lower stress |
| DC. Boston is racist as hell. |
It's so racist it gets tons of students from all over the world dying to go to the city to study. |
| Boston is a nasty blue collar town. Dc has none of that. |
| I'm a New Englander at heart and lived there for many years. DC is far better. |
And then they GTH out of there! |
Schools. Kicking myself. Had an opportunity in Boston in 2010. Foolishly turned it down. If you have kids the schools would be tipping point for me. Leaps and bounds above. |
Nah, they work for all of the top tech companies there. |
+1 And ocean, mountains, beautiful summers. |
NP. Both things can be true. “The city of Boston” as a whole is way more than Harvard, MIT, BC, Northeastern, BU, etc. DC area native here (lived in DC, Md, and Va), and I loooove Boston and have thought about living there. But I’m a white woman. YMMV. |
