I have all sorts of “natural desires” I’d like to act on but don’t because to do so would be immoral. I’d like to sport around on my spouse; I’d like to drink to excess; I’d like to punch people in the nose; I’d like to take nice things without paying for them. The ability to sublimate desire in favor of the will is what makes human beings more than barnyard animals.

GTFOH - All the things you name above are impulsive behaviors and it is not the same and you know it. Wanting to be in a loving relationship with another human being who you are sexually attracted to is an important part of adult life.

If your religion told you that your heterosexual desires (even within marriage) were immoral and you had to be celibate your whole life, would you bow to that teaching? Could you live without sex?

The Catholic Church tells priests and nuns to do that.

Sigh.. NOT THE SAME. These people want to devote their lives to religion, most humans do not want to do this.

Yeah, I’ll say it: I have no problem with gay people. I tolerate gay people. I have gay co-workers whom I respect. However, I have personal moral beliefs that are in conflict gay people insofar as marriage is concerned. Seems to me the push used to be for tolerance which I totally believe in but now it is for total acceptance if not endorsing of other people’s relationships especially when it comes to religion. I suspect a great many other people feel the same way.

Well I'm glad that thankfully not everyone is a pious prick like you.

Well, I'm sure it's frowned upon by many Christian denominations. This isn't exclusive to the Catholic drnomination. If your friends feel uncomfortable where they are, they should seek a new parish or Christian denomination.

Yep, a troll.

It’s really just time when Catholics realize how unholy it is to shun any group.

Hmmm. Yes. That’s how theology and religion should work. Abandon your doctrine in the name of social pressure.

Well then it’s a good thing Jesus never spoke about lgbt (or abortion).

Jesus said we should be celibate outside of marriage, and marriage in his Jewish faith was between a man and woman.

I know several LGBTQ+ families who feel very judged and unrecognized by the Catholic Church and it’s members. What do you know about the topic?

You just need to find an affirming church.

Yet people show up to church hungover, overweight, with girlfriends they have premarital sex with, dressed in a vein way… but nobody is told they are sinful and denied communion.

That’s a choice… and was a financial decision by the church not a religious one.
