I think it's quite evident in many of his questions and comments at the board meetings. He regularly pushes for additional information to be shared, or conveyed in an improved way. I have never dealt with him personally, but other posters here have said he's been very responsive when they've contacted him with questions. I feel like Ms. Yang received the Apple Ballot endorsement mainly because she's a former MCPS staff member. |
He seems fine as long as you're fine with the status quo. Many feel we need to shake up the board and get some fresh blood. |
How would installing a former MCPS staff member "shake up the board"? |
| Julie Yang got 2/3 the vote in the primary. Joftus’ time is almost over. |
In other words, he’s a genial fellow that lacks impact? How many of his votes have been aligned with Brenda Wolff? He came in with a lot of suspicion and I don’t think he’s done enough to shake those suspicions and assert himself. As a result, that’s why he is where he is. |
The power of the Apple Ballot |
She has campaigned her a** off, unlike Joftus. I wouldn't minimize her to an endorsement. |
Plan answer is No. |
Good time for the BOE to send some more cash to his wife. |
| Lol at this thread not being reported but the one about Esther wells was deleted immediately. |
If you think mcps staff are happy with the way things are going, you’re in for a big surprise. It’d be amazing to have someone who knows how bad it actually is on the board. |
MCPS staff have union representation. If it’s so bad then why the hell don’t they do something about it? |
Judy Docca and Lynne Harris are former MCPS employees, as were Jeanette Dixon and Mike Durso before them. How were they able to shake up the board? |
It is more of a shake down https://parentscoalitionmc.blogspot.com/2022/09/breaking-another-237m-to-company-of.html?m=1 |
Can someone explain to me in a mostly unbiased way why the kid museum needs millions of dollars from the public school system? In all seriousness. It has all kinds of wealthy private donors and what looks like a very detailed development campaign. My own kids went to camp there one summer and it cost $$$, and they have always (and continue to) charge a not-insignificant admission fee. I haven’t heard of numerous mcps schools getting to go there for field trips, which could certainly be a way the partnership could be justified. And of schools that wanted to have field trips, I have heard that the students would still have to pay a not-insignificant fee to them per child. Admittedly I have no idea what it costs to run a museum. But it seems to me that this museum is already well funded and well situated without mcps, not offering mcps students very much in the first place (field trips, stem programming, etc.), and skimming taxpayer funds away from the schools at a time that they are obviously needed. Maybe my perception is wrong. But what the heck? Make it make sense. I have two kids who are the perfect age to visit this museum and who are mcps students. If there are no plans for my children to have any connection, then what are we doing here? |
