Did you circumcise?

No

I didn't want to when he was born, but my son developed unrelated health issues when he was around eight years old that required frequent catheterization, and our pediatric urologist strongly recommend we get him circumcised just to make that whole process easier. She did it in-office with a gomco clamp that day and I'm very glad we went through with it, it makes cathing him a lot simpler, and it's just one less thing I need to worry about.

No. It was very very uncommon where he was born, and my brothers weren’t circumcised because they were born in another country where it’s not done. So, I chose not to with my son. He’s 13, and hasn’t complained.

I don’t understand what this means.

My husband is also from a country with low circumcision rates and is not circumcised but was pretty firm that he wanted our son circumcised.

Yes we did. People who say "there's absolutely no reason to do it" conveniently forget that there are complications for some who remain intact. Which is why men sometimes get circed later in life--because of the complications.

Same here. My husband had frequent UTIs growing up and ended up being circumcised at 14, which he thought was miserable and traumatic. So we did it for our son even though not common in his culture and I was agnostic leaning no.

Wouldn't it be just as miserable for a baby, except they can't complain?
Anonymous
No. Neither of us are from cultures that circumcise. We were also living in a country that doesn't circumcise at the time.
Anonymous
No. There wasn't any profoundly compelling medical reason to do so, so I didn't.

Yes, all of our son's are circumcised.

Have you ever broken a bone as a kid vs as an adult? Or had chicken pox as a kid vs an adult?

I respect people who don't believe in circumcision but the argument that you can always do it later seems ridiculous.

We did circumcise our son but it was a combination of religious/what my husband is used to

A baby’s penis isn’t broken or sick though, you just chopped part of it off because your husband had a chopped penis?

No way. My husband is circumcised but none of us wanted to do a medically unnecessary procedure on a little baby. No way.
