| Free and walking the streets. Yay, NY! |
Zeldin was speaking about bail reform and NY laws that allow violent offenders to go free with no bail.........

| The attack looks totally staged. And the attacker was practically moving in slow motion, as if he wasn't really trying to harm Zeldin. And, it wasn't even really a "blade" - it was a cat keychain with pointy ears used for womens' self defense. |
I’m sure it was all faked to gain votes

You try to stab a candidate for governor and you ar real king the streets the next day due to bail reform!
NY is broken and this whole bail reform crap is part of the problem. The issue is that there are people that should be locked up, period. Not roaming the streets to commit crime after crime. |
I have no idea but why would "feelings" matter? |
Not if it was staged. |
| Regardless of party, any attack on a candidate is wrong. Amazing those on the left are calling this fake and as a sign of fairness, Jeff needs to delete those lies. |
Zeldin’s a total wackadoo. I wouldn’t put it past him. |
No. Leave them up. These comments are very instructive of the posters here. |
I have learned that any politician that doesn't lean far left is considered a "wackadoo" by posters here. |
Are you familiar with Lee Zeldin? He represents the district where I grew up and is such an extremist that he caused my lifelong Conservative party mother to vote democrat. |
|
it is a very strange "attack"
That said, I do not condone violence against anyone And I agree with the poster who mentioned Gabby Giffords. We know what would have happened if he'd had a gun |
The fact that you put the word, attack, in quotes, says it all. He was attacked. Period. The weapon the assailant had could have killed him. Period. Not sure why you can't just condemn this without all the qualifiers. And, Zeldin was right in that the attacker would be back on the streets in hours with no bail. If Biden, et al, truly supported law enforcement, they would go after these states and prosecutors who allow violent people back on the streets so easily. Because, law enforcement can only do so much to deal with crime. If the criminals are right back on the streets, it is like a revolving door for more crime to be committed. And, it is defeating to local law enforcement. |

it's like we're watching two different videos.
What I see is an odd dude kind of lumber toward him with a bizarre hello kitty looking thing on his hand. He didn't seem to really get a hand on Zeldin and within a couple seconds, he is tackled. He likely has mental health issues, but this wasn't some violent attack on someone. A scary moment that he got on stage, sure. Had he been quicker or had a worse weapon, it could have been worse. I'd be more mad at my security people who did a pisspoor job of protecting me if I were Zeldin. |
