DP. The PP is able to write in a tone that most people recognize as being sarcastic.

Republicans don’t have slutty sex so they won’t ever have a miscarriage. DUH. Science.

+1. Only dirty, dirty sluts could ever need an abortion. That’s what the mentality boils down to. And dirty, dirty sluts deserve what they get.

That pretty much what every one of my evangelical female friends thinks, even though one is a nurse If you aren't "holy" you have to pay the price. And, if you have a miscarriage, you must not be right with God. Or something.

“We physically watched her get sicker and sicker and sicker” until the fetal heartbeat stopped the next day, “and then we could intervene,” he said. The patient developed complications, required surgery, lost multiple liters of blood and had to be put on a breathing machine “all because we were essentially 24 hours behind.’’

This is what the misogynist GOP wants across the country. Think of dying, terribly, from sepsis that even modern antibiotics can’t touch, on a breathing machine, leaving your children without a mother and your husband a widower because in the GOP women aren’t people, but an embryo is. Unreal that there’s anyone still willing to defend nauseating and cruel politics of hatred of women.

VOTE THE GOP OUT OF OFFICE-All of THEM

Statistically speaking, of the multiple women in the article, some of them are Republican. I wonder how they’re feeling.

That's the problem with an exception like this. How long do you have to wait until the mother's health is in danger? How long is a doctor LIKELY to wait, to make sure it's beyond a shadow of a doubt to a jury of non-medical people in case they get charged after the fact? At that point, you are likely to wait longer, and let the mother get sicker so that you reduce your liability that a pro-birth nurse or colleague won't report you.

If the exception is that the mother's life has to be in danger, doctors will wait even longer, for fear of prosecution. They won't just say, "This is an ectopic pregnancy, her life will be in danger at some point so we'll just remove it." They will wait until the woman's life is in IMMEDIATE danger, which means letting things drag on until the situation is dire and the woman may not physically cover 100% of her health.

And let's not mince words that when you let women get sicker than they have to, so that if someone brings you up in violation of an anti-abortion law that you can defend your decision to a jury, they may very well have lifelong damage even if they don't die. For example, if you have bled so much that you require multiple transfusions, your heart and other organs can be permanently damaged.

Read the linked article. The doctors’ hands are tied with these misogynistic laws. They have to wait far past the point their education, experience and judgment is telling them to act because they can’t risk prosecution.

Women are going septic. This is literally what happened prior to Roe, only prior to Roe women with missed miscarriages would be given the necessary abortions before it killed them.

Women aren’t people in the GOP.

At some point you have to realize how much this will affect the economy of these states. Moral objections aside. Practically speaking. Can you hold a conference or event in TX if pregnant women in your organization or group feel they cannot attend because they could not get appropriate, life saving medical care in an emergency? I’m past child bearing years. But if I were pregnant looking at this, I wouldn’t travel to TX or Ohio if pregnant. What if I had a miscarriage or a placental abruption or my membranes break on the trip? I couldn’t go to the hospital and get the nationally accepted standard of care. Holding the event there would be pregnancy/sex discrimination.

Remember NC and the transgender bathroom bill? That’s where we are headed with red states that don’t adequately protect the health and life of the mother. No conventions, meetings etc that could include women of childbearing age. When my organization plans it’s next major meeting, I will be very vocal about it being somewhere where our pregnant employees can get adequate healthcare in a medical emergency.

Sadly, this case is only the beginning.
Many pregnant women needing an abortion to save their life will get very sick and others will die because of this fetal heartbeat nonsense.
As PP stated, no matter what your party affiliation, you MUST vote for Democrats in every state, in every election in the forseeable future until we can get a Federal law in place keeping abortion safe and legal in all 50 states. Democrats are the only ones who will value the life of the mother and choose her life over that of a fetus, which is not viable ouside the mother's uterus.
Stand up for your beliefs, Americans!! Put principle before party and do the right thing!!
Women are not chattel.
Democrats will protect women. Republicans won't.

Well, let's see if this is how it turns out, that there are no exemptions for health and women are just left to bleed out. I havent seen any state pass legislation like this, but give me specifics if you know otherwise.

I’m seriously reconsidering having another child as a result of this. I can’t imagine being pregnant in the current climate. God forbid anything happen, my daughter could easily be left motherless. Hope the magic man in the sky is happy, though.

I think this will eventually be the upshot of the overturn. Mature women will limit their families even more, so they can take care of their existing children.

Women and girls who don't have a choice (rape, domestic abuse) will be forced to have babies, particularly poor women.

How is this an upshot?
