I have over 2000 hours. |
DP I'm up in the mid 1,000 range. I should have used more of it in my earlier years. |
12 month employees get annual leave. They can cash out up to 320 hours of that upon retirement, but can't cash out sick leave. They get annual leave instead of things like spring break, "summer break," winter break, etc. It is in the annual leave reg and not the sick leave reg. |
It’s slightly less than 13 per school year. And no maternity leave separate from these days so if you’re hoping to be paid for maternity leave better start saving those days…It takes approx 4 years without ever taking off to save enough to be paid for your entire 12 weeks FMLA when you have a baby ( you’re required to use the first 4 weeks of your own leave ( 20 day elimination period) then you get STD for 2 weeks ( regular birth…max of 4 weeks for c-section) then for the remaining 6 (or 4 for c-section) weeks you’re only paid if you have enough days saved). 60 days FMLA broken down as follows: 20 days elimination period - sick leave (1.5 years without taking a day off needed to accumulate this) 10 days STD ( not paid at 100 percent.. this is the total “maternity benefit” from FCPS) 30 days remaining FMLA ( takes another 2.3 years to save up this much) |
What year did the legacy plan end? I started FCPS in 2009 |
2000 |
Reviving this old thread. Do brand new FCPS teachers get sick leave right away or do they have to work a few months to “earn it?” In And how many sick days a year do brand new teachers get in 2025? |
All your answers are here: https://www.fcps.edu/about-fcps/employees/salary-and-benefits/benefits-package/time-away-work Teachers (no matter their seniority) are front loaded 14 days of leave in August to last the whole year. |
It says that new teachers (new teachers have start dates in August rather than July) have prorated leave rather than the automatic 13 days that teachers whose contracts start in July have.
Anyone know about this? |
The way I read the policy, that would only apply if you started after the first contract date, which would have been August 4 for new teacher hires: Fourteen (14) days of sick leave will be granted to the employee upon reporting on their first scheduled contract day at the beginning of each contract year. Employees who start after the first scheduled contract day or has a full time equivalent (FTE) and daily schedule hour (DSH) change in the contract year, the sick leave grant shall be prorated and adjusted accordingly. Employees on a short-term disability, long-term disability, leave of absence or workers’ compensation leave status will have their prorated sick leave granted when they return to work. |
