We get 13 sick days a year when we start and 5 of those can be used as personal leave. How many carry over to following years if we don't use them? Is there any use or lose? Is there a cap on how many days you can have banked over the years?
It’s slightly less than 13 per school year. And no maternity leave separate from these days so if you’re hoping to be paid for maternity leave better start saving those days…It takes approx 4 years without ever taking off to save enough to be paid for your entire 12 weeks FMLA when you have a baby ( you’re required to use the first 4 weeks of your own leave ( 20 day elimination period) then you get STD for 2 weeks ( regular birth…max of 4 weeks for c-section) then for the remaining 6 (or 4 for c-section) weeks you’re only paid if you have enough days saved). 60 days FMLA broken down as follows: 20 days elimination period - sick leave (1.5 years without taking a day off needed to accumulate this) 10 days STD ( not paid at 100 percent.. this is the total “maternity benefit” from FCPS) 30 days remaining FMLA ( takes another 2.3 years to save up this much)
