If you SAH, do you clean your own house?

What does that mean? Cleaning your own house doesn’t mean you’re a maid.

How clean do you people need your houses to be? Wiping down the baseboards! I think we do that every few years.

No. House cleaner comes every other week. 3 kids. I clean in between but don't scrub toilets, mop floors change sheets.

Cleaning service, maid, housekeeper…whatever you want to call it.

Not talking about day to day pick up, but the actual cleaning: base boards, windows, bathroom scrubbing, vacuum and mopping, wiping down kitchen cabinets, cleaning out oven and frig…all the nitty gritty

Yes, I do that. Don't want someone in my house.

Are they white? Mine are white and need to be done at least months. Plus it is original 1920s trim. Which I don’t know why but seems to show dust so much easier than new builder trim. Maybe because it isn’t as smooth and dust clings more readily?

Same. I do all the cleaning.

I do all the cleaning. We couldn’t have afforded me to stay home otherwise.

For the cleaning tasks you mentioned, we have a monthly cleaner that we started when I was pregnant with #3. Before that, my husband would basically wait til we were annoyed with the state of the house and would clean it together. And actually in the time that I’ve been home (5 years), I’ve been pregnant or had an infant, so my husband has done a lot of the heavy duty chores before we had cleaners. I did go through a period when my first was a toddler that I tried to clean the house myself, but then I decided to use that time for freelance work instead.

Well I don’t. I am a SAHM and my mother and grandmothers all were too. We have all always had cleaning ladies. I did actually have to figure out how to clean my house during the pandemic and it did not go well.

Yes, but I have only one kid and our place is a medium-sized condo. My hands look like a dry mess from all the cleaning and cooking

I have a cleaning lady once a week but I do daily type of cleaning.

+1. I do everything regarding the house and the kids: cleaning, cooking, laundry, grocery shopping, and errands. It’s not that hard sand was what we agreed when we discussed my staying home.

No. I’m more a nanny than a housekeeper. I do everything for my kids, laundry, kitchen cleaning and some cooking.

But my husband resents it. My SAH situation will not last for long.

We outsource yard care and pool service. I clean the house myself. It’s a lot. Our home is 4100 sq ft. But I actually really enjoy cleaning and organizing. If it gets to be too much, I’ll hire a service.

I actually did it myself when I worked full time before children and now I hire out a lot of it.
