DD hates her moles and freckles on face

Definitely consult with a plastic surgeon - not a dermatologist.

My 14 yo dd has a mole right in the middle of forehead. I do plan to have it removed by a plastic surgeon if she wants that. She has not asked in a while.

Very good friend with this. Yes people called her a witch. She was an adult and had a defensive “love me, love my mole” stance. Such an uphill and pointless battle.
Do it now and don’t look back. Freckles are another story. We left them alone.

Neighbor who is Indian had her DDs mustache removed age 12. Whew no more waxing.

There are several methods to remove moles. I had some facial moles removed by a laser radiowave method. No scars, healed in a couple of days. Wish I had done it decades ago. Moles can get bigger, deeper, textured with age (not due to cancer). If plastic surgeon will do it now, get it done . A traditional dermatologist won't do anything.

This is who I saw, sadly not in DC, but gives you an idea what to look for.

I would remove the moles now but not freckles. Freckles are beautiful

Luckily she wears a mask at school which has helped cover a lot of them. I’m worried about how upset she is about them, she comments and complains about them daily.
I have explain they’re not dangerous and she does not need to get them removed but she wants to get them removed for cosmetic reasons. I told her the earliest we could do that is her teenage years. I don’t know how to make her feel better about this, more confident, this is such a tough age anyway and then to not like how your face looks it’s just heartbreaking. I do not have any moles on my face so it’s very hard for her to understand why she has them. Any advice from people in the situation? I feel totally helpless. [/quote

My dd had only one mole and the kids made fun of her ( called her a witch) so we did get it removed. It was important to her. I cant remember how old but around 11 or 12. Maybe you do do a a couple a year. Listen to your dd. If she doesnt think it is beautiful than you should let her.

Several people (friend derm first, then my derm, then pede doc, then pede plastic surgeon) all told us if we wanted to get a gnarly mole removed from DD's face, earlier is better. Theory was it can grow with puberty, I think. Anyway, she had it removed at age 12 (just before covid hit). Slight chance it will grow back, but that's for another day. I'd ask your pede about optimal removal.

Please consult a plastic surgeon and get the moles removed. No reason to wait.

Thank you! I just called him.

I had a lot of freckles as a kid, but they were all gone by the time I was 25. I guess I associate freckles with children. I have looked at other women and don't see freckles on them either (and I know not everyone is getting them lasered off).

Moles though can be annoying. I had a lot of friends take them off in middle school. Especially if they're prominent, growing hair or getting bigger. It's pretty cheap too.
