Masking (kn95/n95)

In fact, I’m thrilled to see a child wearing any mask that actually fits and covers their nose and mouth securely! Too many kids have masks that are falling off of their face, and the ones we are issued to hand out do not seem like they would protect anyone from anything.

Same! I started double masking the kids whose masks are falling down. Sorry, not sorry.

Jesus. I would go apesh*t if I my kid came home and told me that you did that.

And good luck getting kids to comply with using them.

My kid loves the KN95s and KF94s and refuses to wear any of the cloth ones. They're much more comfortable and don't collapse onto your face/mouth.

(And by the way, they can be worn for at least 5 days as long as they don't get wet or dirty. The material is tested to last like 200 days, actually, but the fit will start getting looser after around 5-10 days of use.)

Also, this site (very reputable brand and supplier, with anti-counterfeiting verification) is letting me load an order of 100,000 into my cart, so it doesn't seem like supply is an issue: https://bonafidemasks.com/powecom-kn95-sm-respirator-mask-10-masks-per-pack/

+1 My kid says she prefers the KN95 mask because the fit is more snug, unlike the looser cloth masks which would run against her skin.

That is really gross to have them wear it for 5 days.

oh we have them. I just want more of the classmates to have them. Most are still in cloth masks.

Focus on your own kids and their masks. Please let other parents manage their own child.

Not in micromanaging I’m in your business and know better than you MOCO.

Noone is saying they know better. But we do know some things that work - outdoor lunch, testing, better masks. The school system should provide them, like they do breakfast and lunch, but they cannot. So if a PTA is able to mobilize and hand out masks, what is the issue? Especially when (1) most schools are yellow (2) very few want virtual.

Our PTA says they are not allowed to.

Go search "Aaron Collins masks" and look up his spreadsheets. He lists suppliers that sell masks in batches of 100 or more. We bought a case of 100 at the beginning of the school year and it's served us well.

This. I’m fine with my kids in cloth masks. You do what works for you and let other parents do what works for them. TYVM

Maybe you should put yourself into a zoo after masking your kid better?

Why the F are you sending your kid in with a mask that doesn't fit? Why not just start protesting mask wearing instead of half assing it and then claiming you're following the rules?

But your choices impact my kids. As well as all the kids in the school. There's enough data out there showing cloth masks aren't very good at protection from omicron (see Leana Wen's most recent op-ed)

My DD has worn KN95 masks since September from a legit manufacturer. One mask per school day. She has never complained about the fit.
