MCPS closed tomorrow 1/3

So happy!!!! It is rare for MCPS to call it the night before, but as a staff member who was going to be pulled in 10 different directions tomorrow because of other staff member's absences, I am thrilled to be able to sleep late!

So true!

There is no reason for closure.

What they should do is have all students log in for
A virtual day due to snow. There should never be a snow day
Ever again. Everyone has a chrome book at home with them.

MCPS is a joke. And honestly their should never be a closure due to snow. It’s going to snow, then report to work 2 hours early to be ready. Get the busses on the road an hour early. To be waiting at the stops.

Northern states have this down to a science, no reason this county can’t too.

The credibility of MCPS is fully gone at this point. This is the epitome of of poorly run school systems and it starts from the top.

Closing school because of a winter storm warning is the epitome of a poorly run school system? Really?

According to this MCPS video, the decision to delay opening or close schools is not made until after they have been able to evaluate road conditions, which occurs in the early morning.

Why is McKnight choosing to destroy her credibility like this because she wants to follow PG County but is afraid of the fallout? All because she was less competent than DCPS to prepare a testing plan for return to school.

It’s indefensible at this stage.

The federal government closes for weather too, genius. Is this your first day on planet earth or something?

Yes. Because the closure does not follow the process that they claim to follow for determining delays or closures.

Refusing to follow your own rules is the epitome of a poorly run organization.

Has OPM announced a closure of Federal offices as of right now? What information does MCPS have that the Federal government does not? Or DCPS, Fairfax and Arlington Public Schools, etc?

Please tell me you weren’t one of the posters in previous years complaining when MCPS makes the decision to delay or cancel schools at 5 am.

You sound like the most miserable parent ever. I feel sorry for you kids who will probably have to study and do workbooks on their first snow day of the year.

DCPS is already closed tomorrow. Fairfax has already called it.

The standards for OPM closing aren't the same as the public school because children aren't involved. They never have been.

Absolutely. After spending millions for the technology infrastructure and having an 18 month period trial run, the idea that they would just “close” is ridiculous. So much incompetence. So little concern for educating kids.
