LOL, definitely, we are the OP and trying to escape, what are your reasons?

BTW has Fauqier County esp Kettle Run High feeder real estate gone up more this and last year than NOVA? based on some superficial cruising on Redfin it seems so.

Need a place where schools are committed to being open and where perhaps politics are more purple as to have a more logical approach to Covid.

NP. I keep seeing "open the schools" posts. Where, exactly, are schools not open? Virginia law (enacted by a Democrat Gov, btw) is that schools are NOT allowed to go virtual.

We live here. Moved from Fairfax 7 years ago and like it a lot. We have kids in elementary and middle school. Next year one will go to Kettle Run. I’ve heard really good things about the school from many. I am most disappointed with the middle school here (it’s not bad or anything, I’m just not as impressed as I thought I would be). We have mostly average to low average kids so I can’t really speak to how the advanced courses are. I have one child that is pretty precocious and will surely test into their gifted program when we decide to stop homeschooling him. I’ve heard decent things about that as well. All in all, we love living here and the schools have been wonderful for us.

Thank You for your info. Where do kids mostly hang out? at their houses? is there a community pool , sport leagues they can join for exercise and making friends?

New poster here.
I don't live in Brookside but live nearby in Prince William county. I'm somewhat familiar with the Brookside community because I'm a triathlete and the REV3 sprint series held several races in that area (the run course went through part of Brookside.)
From the map it appears there are two community pools, one off of Boathouse rd. and one near the corner of Riley rd. and Brookside Pkwy.
There is also the Larry Weeks pool in the Vint Hill area (walking/biking distance from most of the Brookside neighborhood) that is operated by the county, so you can get a season pass or pay a daily entrance fee.
For an indoor pool, you will want to go to the Warf (also run by the county) and about a 20 minute drive away.

I'm not as familiar with the youth sports leagues in that area but I'm sure they have them. Vint Hill (it's right next to Brookside) also has a Brewery (Old Bust Head) and a small winery (Vint Hill craft winery.)

We just moved to Fauquier County, and we ultimately bought a house in the area of Warrenton zoned for Fauquier High. We looked at Brookside but ended up in a house just outside of the historic district of Warrenton and love the walkability. Like one of the PPs said, it really is like Mayberry here. After nearly 20 years in the immediate DC suburbs, we love every part of our new life here. Yes, there are many Republicans but it isn’t some kind of litmus test for friendship. We have found all of our neighbors and people in town to be exceptionally friendly and welcoming.

Brookside poster here. We looked at Vint Hill. It is charming there. They have a lovely farm to table restaurant, brewery (as pp said), yoga studio, homegoods store, winery, coffee shop, dog park. It is all walking distance from their homes.

Taxes are cheaper, too. Take a drive and check it out.

I live in this neighborhood and it is lovely! This house went quickly and is already under contract. Only thing that I wish we had here was a neighborhood pool. There is a county pool in Vint Hill that we use, but this neighborhood here doesn’t have the same social/community features of Brookside. My DH much prefers our quieter neighborhood. Still plenty of friends running around for our kids to play with.

Are Brookside, Vint Hill & Warrenton different areas entirely? I'm geographically challenged and having a hard time following this thread! This whole "mayberry" concept sounds lovely - and would love some walkability but also space, etc.

Brookside resident here.

Brookside is in Warrenton (mailing address is Warrenton, 20187). Vint Hill is neighboring town. Walking distance from Brookside.

Warrenton proper (downtown) is about 6 miles from Brookside/Vint Hill.

Amazon is putting a data center in Warrenton.

For any catholics, check out St. John the Evangelist church. It is one of the most beautiful churches I have seen. Looks European. All stone. Gorgeous

Above poster, thank you. It doesnt seem there are many houses for sale there. They are usually 700-900K in Brookside?
The HS is Kettle Run, does all of Brookside go to the same elementary and middle school?

There are smallet homes/lots in the 600 range. They do go quickly, but the spring hasn't started yet. People will be listing their homes.

We used Courtney and Phillip Brown as our agents. They live in brookside and know the area well.

There is a Reserve, where homes are bigger and on 1 acre lots. Then regular size houses and lots.

Tons of families. The pools are wonderful. Clean and like a resort.

I’m one of the Warrenton PPs and this is definitely an advantage of the Brookside community. The ES my kids attend ends up splitting for MS, but then they all attend Fauquier High. We also definitely got a resort like vibe from Brookside, my kids thought it would be great but it was too much for my DH to handle, it reminded him of Potomac lite and he was like that’s not what we are moving out here for

Brookside person here. I was out for a walk this morning and I think this house will be going up soon. 4830 Pointe Rd, Warrenton 20187

They had a pod out front.

That street is quiet, not a lot of thru traffic. Pretty close to Lake Ashby
