Why are you deleting posts that omicron is mild?

It's funny how you're concerned about the long term effects of the vaccine, but not about the long term effects of a COVID infection.

What? I’m triple vaxxed and fully in favour of COVID vaccines.
See you should be the one deleted hurling nonsense and hate at other people.

I started a thread yesterday in this same forum after a post in which I explained my motivations for not vaccinating was deleted in another thread. To his credit, Jeff has permitted that thread (including much lengthier discussion of the same issues) to remain open despite numerous hysterical calls for its removal. I don’t think you understand how rabid some posters here are in demanding that COVID-related posts be deleted or censored. The pressure on the mods is enormous I am sure, and sometimes some posts are removed, likely to satisfy that element. But reasonable and respectful discussion can still be had, even by those who oppose the vaccine.

Yet, somehow he keeps deleting and catering to hysteria? Why? Why can't we point out any good news? How come some, as you say rabid posters, are allowed to insult us, call us Trumpers, but posting hey, doctors from SA are saying it is mild in not permitted?

Sure you can have ONE doctor reporting from South Africa, but that is not a study on its virulence.

Also, many people catching it are vaccinated, hence would be milder

Do you mean: The Chairperson of the South African Medical Association? ("one doctor"??). She said the cases she was seeing, "and my colleagues" she said, are "extremely mild." She said they were at the "epicenter" of it.

Even if - even if things change later and new information is revealed, why hide true information today? It denigrates credibility.

It is misinformation at this point to say omicron is mild. We don't know that for sure.

It is accurate to say that some initial observations from individual healthcare providers in South Africa indicate that omicron may be milder, but further time and research is required.

People say the first, but all we really know is the second. And they are not the same statement.

CDC came out and said it.

The CDC said that observed cases seem mild so far. That isn't the same as "omicron is mild."

It's NOT misinformation for the Chairperson of the South Africa Medical Association to report to U.S. media what she and her colleagues SAW at the "epicenter" of the Omicron variant. She reported what she and her colleagues saw, and obviously as the Chairperson of their medical association. She reported what she saw with her own eyes - are you calling her a liar? You are!

Wow this is major twisting of words.

Can you disprove its mostly mild? Show us please. What's your source?

Here is what the head of the South African Medical Association actually said:

The majority of what we are presenting to primary health care practitioners are extremely mild cases, so mild to moderate. And so, these patients, it means they don’t need to be hospitalised for now. We try to get the message out there to the world to say listen, we’re not saying this is not going to be a disease going forward that’s going to cause severe disease; it will cause severe disease, but if this disease can cause to more than the majority of people mild symptoms, easily treatable at home, no need for admission, that’s a first prize."

I added the bolding. It sounds to me that the doctor is saying that there is no need to panic -- because remember that the world immediately panicked with a stock market drop and everything -- but she is also not arguing that we can relax.

If we have increased covid cases due to faster spreading omicron but a lower percentage of hospitalizations and deaths, we may maintain the status quo for deaths and hospitalizations in raw numbers. But, the status quo is not great.

Yet, those posts saying exactly that were deleted. Why? Nobody here is Fauci, we are all usually retelling what we heard. It is also accurate to say, "observations are that only panic and fear spreading posters are allowed not to be deleted on dcum."

Yes, the issue is pps like her can stay on twisting words, but when pps post, hey it is mild, then that is not ok. But, OMG kids are having it bad with omicron, which is not supported with any science at all, that can stay.
What's good for the goose is not good for the gander.

The flu can cause severe disease. So can RSV. So can a head cold that turns in pneumonia. So the doctor is saying it’s no worse than these

The PP I quoted didn’t say Chairperson, they said “had a dr from SA”.

You are now claiming Chairperson, again without any documentation or links.
