I agree with this. I don't see why FCV should want to leave GA where they are at the top of the heap and doing quite well (as measured by college commits which is the measure, right?). As long as they can stay at the top of GA, compete in GA national tournaments, play in the GA champions league, give players good exposure, then this is a better scenario for them than to be just another middling ECNL club in the mid Atlantic.

Arlington we’re a top 15 GA club.

Lower mid pack in the ECNL MA. I bet those players are happy to be challenged every week though.

The trouble with staying in GA in an area where there are ECNL choices is that in the long run, it will be hard to continue to attract top talent. The club will weaken over time.

How different are things now from just 3, 4, 5 years ago? Why should that level of change not occur again over the next 3-5 years?

3. GA settles in as a 2nd tier National league that is utilized more for regional college recruiting, specifically catering to regional Mid and low level D1, D2 and D3 programs.

4. ECNL continues to expand, slowly squeezing GA out by picking GA clubs off one by one until the league is nothing more than ECNL-R or CCL equivalent.

5. Both continue as is for a number of years.

I can only comment on what is in front of me. One cannot make decisions based on unknown future developments. My guess is that on the present path, GA and it's members are at a growing disadvantage relative to ECNL clubs.

And the reality top clubs were already heading back to ECNL from DA before DA even folded. GA is a bridge league/Band-Aid to help those DA clubs left out in the cold when their league folded.

Over time GA will find its own footing but ECNL should remain the top league on the girls side for the foreseeable future. I suspect ECNL will pick off more top GA clubs strategically important GA clubs in the coming couple of years.

FCV simply isn't that important a club strategically in NOVA. ECNL are targeting clubs that also have a strong boys program and FCV completely lacks a quality boys side and much of what they did have on the boys went to VA Revolution

There’s a reason DA folded. US Soccer gave up on it. Completely irrelevant as a national league. The future will not be bright for FCV, which is why their youth teams are not a big draw.

FCV is already weak. As stated many times, their boys teams stink as do all their girls non-GA teams. That’s why they can’t get into ECNL. They are a one trick pony. Give it up man.
