For the 50 times. They have made a play and were turned down. They don’t have the quality unless poaching from neighboring ECNL clubs. They are blocked due to over saturation and proximity to other clubs. They will not get ECNL. They will not get BRYC spot if they lose it. They will just drop the spot all together. [/quote]

FCV players that are unhappy with GA can move and join any ECNL club. If you are a good player then take the challenge and show your talent. You can go to a club that is crowded and that may make it easy for you to go to playoffs but you may get frustrated with playing time. Or you can join a team and club where you can explode your talent.[/quote]

I agree with this. I don't see why FCV should want to leave GA where they are at the top of the heap and doing quite well (as measured by college commits which is the measure, right?). As long as they can stay at the top of GA, compete in GA national tournaments, play in the GA champions league, give players good exposure, then this is a better scenario for them than to be just another middling ECNL club in the mid Atlantic. Lower mid pack in the ECNL MA. I bet those players are happy to be challenged every week though.

That might happen. Or it might not. You state with certainty (“will”) what is only a guess. Truth is the soccer landscape will probably change over the next few years in ways that aren’t obvious now. How different are things now from just 3, 4, 5 years ago? Why should that level of change not occur again over the next 3-5 years? [/quote]

There is of course what could happen and what is likely to happen.

There is a range of outcomes that are more likely to happen than others. Here is a short list:

1. GA flips ECNL and attracts top ECNL clubs.

2. Top ECNL clubs get sick of ECNL expansion and decide to go back old school and kick off their own league like they did when they created ECNL in the first place. This could draw from top ECNL and GA clubs.

3. GA settles in as a 2nd tier National league that is utilized more for regional college recruiting, specifically catering to regional Mid and low level D1, D2 and D3 programs.

4. ECNL continues to expand, slowly squeezing GA out by picking GA clubs off one by one until the league is nothing more than ECNL-R or CCL equivalent.

5. Both continue as is for a number of years. [/quote]
