I agree these are impeachment hearings. There are also some national security concerns and more importantly, the anonymous whistleblower. You may disagree with that anonymity, but that's how the whistleblower wants it, and it's their right. |
Right now, I couldn't care less about the whistleblower. Where are the transcripts for the interviews conducted thus far? And, why were they done in private? |
That "research phase" should be public. And, they should vote to conduct this inquiry just like they have for other impeachment inquiries that have occurred. |
That's not how this works. |
Well, no. The other side is compromised and can’t be trusted not to destroy evidence, intimidate witnesses, obstruct justice, and not to release doctored “evidence.” Too many sharpies and “summaries” that don’t even jive with the full reports. Once all the evidence is collected and preserved, you can bet it will be made public. But not until that time. |
It's clear that "not how this works." At least when it comes to the Democrats. They won't allow their members to go on record with a vote. They won't allow people to testify in public - risking disputing their narrative. They want this "inquiry" to happen quickly and in secret. The American people cannot know their motivation. |
McConnell has set the precedent for doing whatever can be gotten away with. Take it up with him. |
+1 The media can fool people...for a bit. Eventually the truth comes out, and the liars lose the little credibility they have left. The Boy Who Cried Wolf should be required reading in every newsroom and every Dem's office -- they have forgotten its crucial message. |
+1 I have yet to see a single Trump supporter who's crying about the tradition of take a vote for the inquiry address the GOP's erosion of all the other traditions in the last 3 years. |

A deposition is not a hearing. |

When Pelosi decides to make this process legitimate, they will be more open to cooperation. |
It is legitimate, and right now they are obstructing. Even if Pelosi did hold a vote, they would still obstruct. Because that's what people do to hide their criminality. |
