I think cash prizes for his kids would have most motivated Trump but he sure thought the Europeans were chumps.

Why aren’t we applying sanctions to Putin? Why are we focusing on his oligarchy friends but not him? Putin doesn’t care about anyone but himself - until it affects him, no sanction will matter.

Appreciate any insight or perspective for the rationale behind this.

We need to find where Putin hides his money first. They're working on it, as well as a lot of other stuff. Stay tuned.

He is a rambling moron.

How am I supporting ethnic cleansinf when I want the refugees here.

Putin isn’t dumb but he isn’t super smart either. He wants strategic depth.

I want the human capital. Us will prevail in this. Let all Ukrainians move here tomorrow

How are you support ethnic cleansing? Read your own posts. You are advocating the forced dislocation of almost the entire population of Ukraine and relocating them to the US.

Why have you appointed yourself the head of the Ukrainian housing authority? How about we relocate you to Montana? Remember that you will only be able to take what you can carry. I am being very humanitarian with this suggestion.

There will be many Ukrainians that flee “Ukraine”. If they are up to date on their vaccinations we will welcome them into Poland.

Despite what Putin says, it looks like the whole former country of the Ukraine will be occupied at least temporarily by the Russian army in a weeks time.

It remains to be seen if they allow the western part of the country that does not like Russia any autonomy going forward.

If I were Poland or the Baltic States I would be thinking real hard about how not to suffer the same fame that Ukraine is suffering.

Please imagine reading the following in a cowboy voice (or at least Mater from Cars):

Tell you what there if I was president...of the US that is I would have called his bluff. I would have made Ukraine a NATO member the moment this mess started. You heard me right. I would have called pooty's bluff. That's what old Bushy used to call him back before he had hypersonic missiles. You want a war!? Fine nobody's going to live... It all would have gone something like this.

And if it went sideways there'd be nobody left to tell me I done messed up!

NATO isn’t startfleet

Russians aren’t romulans

Biden isn’t Picard.

If you remember it’s precisely because there is no formalized neutral zone that this mess started.

Imagine if the federation kept encroaching the neutral zone like nato did east of Germany for the last 30 years

Obviously I was up late making light of a horrible situation (feeling kinda bad 😞) that said I'll bite.

Biden is not TNG Picard...he's Picard in ...well...Picard, so old it's painful for me to watch but I still do out of loyalty.

Russians are not Romulans, but Putin is. If memory serves (and it does) Klingons were the Russians and the Romulans were supposed to China.

Those former Soviet nations asked to join NATO for a reason. They didnt want to be reabsorbed into the " Evil Empire" and wanted some protection for good reason. Also while I agree the exact location of the Neutral Zone was not precisely identified, it's existence was agreed upon. Where as old Gorbachev forgot to get that no expansion part in writing.

I could probably make a good argument for NATO and/or UN involvment, but I'm not sure why the US would want to get involved on its own. Feel free to convince me otherwise.

Putin is making his chess move. This is the start to overtaking NATO.

We should bring them here first. All of them.

Lol. So predictable I think more people coming be the southern border are fluent in English than vs the 13% of Ukrainians who speak somewhat passable English. Which mean means the vast majority would be completely unemployable, yes just what we need, but hey at least they aren’t brown. Not to mention their strong cultural ties and traditions that have nada to do with an American way of life, being from an entirely separate continent, vastly different chitin and no ability to communicate, yeah that’s a great idea! Yet somehow we should be jumping up and down, to welcome people who more than likely have no desire to come to this country where they will have to Live as refugees and paupers. We don’t even have universal healthcare. If I’m a Ukrainian and I have to leave my homeland I’m going to anyplace in Golden ticket Northern Europe where at least I can enjoy a decent standard of living, free housing, decent education and relatively free healthcare.

It’s because they are white. This is how liberal white people’s minds work.

My guess is sovereign immunity/head of state doctrine.

I think it’s negotiating tactics. You have to leave something on the table to provide an off-ramp. If you play all your cards right away what do you have left to gamble with. I think the president is playing it pretty cool right now and I’m not a fan of his as I’m farther to the left economically - I haven’t really cared for his middle of the road approach domestically.
