Also, the Miranda story seems to be trying to mirror the actor's real life, right? So did she struggle with alcoholism, too?

Miranda is a different person in this show. I don’t think the character would be okay with hearing her child have sex on the other side of the wall. It’s more Cynthia Nixon now than Miranda.

To be sure, most people aren’t into listening to their relatives or friends banging loudly like that, and certainly not all the time like Miranda’s son and his gf. If Steve and Miranda were doing it like that every day, I’m sure Brady and gf would be packing their bags.

Parents barely / rarely tolerate kids turning up music in the house. Miranda may be living a little too much vicariously through Brady’s sex life.

It also bugs me that Miranda keeps referring to herself as Rambo. I guess they want her character to be kind of desperate and pathetic. But you don’t refer to yourself by a nickname. That’s for the person who coined it

It points to how much she is trying to connect. It’s desperate and while embarrassing perfect for where she’s at emotionally (think puberty).

I wish they started the season with Miranda already a lesbian and Steve out of the picture. Would be a lot more interesting to watch her date instead of watching her divorce. It also would have been cool if we saw her quit the law firm and get inspired to go back to school.
I also hope Carrie moves soon. I want to see a new apartment.

But they are adults right? And do they pay you rent?

Why would she want them to pay rent? It would take longer to save for a house and they would be there longer.

The combo of the gray hair and the bad teeth is just unwatchable. They should fix one or the other. I don’t need to see the “sexual awakening” of the cat lady down the street.

When did she say how long it had been? I missed that.

In ep 3 she told Charlotte she hadn't had sex in YEARS. Clearly the romantic relationship with Steve is done, just neither has had the courage to call it.

…so? My grandparents were married for 60 years. When my grandma died at the age of 85, I’m pretty sure the SEXUAL relationship was done, but you’re saying “romantic” like that means sexual. They were still very romantic and very much a couple, but I’m fairly certain they weren’t still having sex. Do you seriously think older couples should “call it” and no longer be married when they stop having sex?

Maybe? Miranda isn't 85, though. And she's at a point in life where she is trying to figure out who she is. She feels like she's been sleepwalking and now wants to be awake. I don't think the success of your grandparents' long marriage - and congratulations to them and you, it's wonderful! - means that she isn't allowed to try to actually live her authentic life for the next 20-30 years.

So wedding vows are instantly meaningless the nanosecond you decide that the “authentic you” is into other men, or other women, or both? How very interesting.

They planned for a heartfelt goodbye scene between Stanford and Carrie that, unfortunately, they were not able to shoot while he was well enough to work. He rapidly declined on-set, sadly. There was a scene written, though. I think at some point they should do a table read or something of it with SJP and another actor, or one of the writers or something.

And I think, rightly, that they didn’t want to put the characters or the audience through another death. It would have been too much, with Big dead, Samantha gone, and Stanford dead. They clearly wanted to keep things moving for Carrie after Big’s death, and that would have been too much of a hurdle. It is a shame they couldn’t have filmed the scene they had planned.

It's called adulting. I could explain it but it's is a digression from AJLT and better experienced through living

As far as we know Steve still has his bar.

He definitely does because in the second episode, Miranda got a drink before the eulogy and told the bartender "My dh donated this; he owns a bar"

I was cringing watching Miranda get finger banged by Che in Carrie's kitchen. And then when she was called out by Carrie she immediately claimed she was miserable in her marriage. Go to counseling. Talk it out. Don't immediately cheat on your dh with the first person who makes you feel exciting. (And I think that's truly what it is; she met someone cool so now she feels like she's boring.)

I liked the way they handled Charlotte and Harry's talk with the school. They showed the nuanced reaction normal parents would have instead of the "OMG I'M SO EXCITED TO HAVE A TRANS KID" reaction progressive media wants everyone to have.
