WJ does have a lot. What is the solution you would like to see? |
WJ and Woodward students are now only being offered Kennedy IB even though two other IB programs (RM and BCC) are closer. I'm surprised more WJ parents aren't pointing out that the regional model is increasing their commute while asking them to attend a less established program. Though I guess most WJ kids will just opt to stay at WJ for programs like APEX. |
Most kids in MCPS want to stay at their home school and not deal with the logistical challenges of attending school with a longer commute. |
FARM level of Woodward with Art program will put it at the same level as RM minus IB magnet. |
Woodward will have twice the FARMS comapred to WJ and a meanigless Art program in it. No way both schools will be the same. Even WJ will lose some high level courses. Current WJ > Future WJ >> Woodward |
| Churchill and Whitman will remain safe and untouched. |
I hold an IB diploma from 20+ years ago. It was rigorous. But, AP is more respected by colleges. APEX is fine. |
If they provide their own transportation? That's now how public schools work... you can't just pick which one you want if you can Uber there. |
I've noticed and this sucks. Plus the math program will be in the 'hood at Wheaton |
so it will be no where near the same level. in other words, it will be a bad school |
+1, but if you have a shot at Future WJ, you go with WJ. Looking at you Garrett Park. Nice signs on Strathmore. |
which illustrate that public schools influence property values. who wants to live in timbuktu |
The signs just say keep both sides of the street together. Don’t live there so I don’t know but it sounded like they were fine with either school. |
Yes, what many of us have to do now to get our kids needs met. We provide the transportation. It’s horrible. |
I’d take Wheaton any day over most schools. Their math teachers are really good. WJ has sp and advanced math classes so it’s a nonissue and they can more easily get to MC. They will be fine. It’s the schools with less that will be far more impacted especially if they take away Wheaton as an option. |
