Which is frankly a bigger issue than Trump IMO. |
Remember when the Supreme Court kept that from happening and Biden abided by their decision? |
There’s a thread for further discussion of this here https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/1322903.page |
I think the point was that Biden was doing something he knew full well was illegal and was daring the Supreme Court to stop him, which is now what Trump is doing too, repeatedly. |
Except back then our checks and balances were working. No one person should have unlimited power. Today, no one in power is doing anything to stop Trump. Which is exactly why 1.5M Virginians voted YES. |
Yes. Biden was daring the Supreme Court to stop him from helping people. Totally the same! |
I think you're missing the point. The pattern that's developing here is: Presidents doing things they know are illegal because: 1. They know very few people will have standing to sue to stop them 2. It will take the courts forever and a day to decide anything 3. Who knows? Maybe the courts will agree with their flimsy arguments? So why not roll the dice? It would be better if presidents respected the law, and didn't waste the courts' resources with stupid bullshit, and the public wasn't left to wonder for a year or more about what might happen. |
| Well and then they can ignore court rulings because who's going to stop them? Fire anybody who won't ignore them. |
