This conflict has really opened my eyes about the radicalization of so many college students.

I used to dismiss the talk of "wokism." I am an independent who has voted mostly for Democrats.

But I can not ignore what I am seeing on college campuses. My kids are a few years off from college, but there is no way I would let them go to my alma mater -- one of these schools with a very vigorous pro-Hamas SJP.

And it is absolutely terrifying the number of medical professionals who have posted gleefully on social media about the attacks on Israel, celebrating Hamas.

They iare not doing the Arab-American community any favors.

It is NOT radicalization

It is being concerned about how Israel stomps on the Palestinians

It is just like how South Africa was treated in the 80’s

Israel deserves the same

Were people terrorizing South Africans living in America?

South Africans living in the US actively worked to eliminate apartheid. They were vocal. They joined the demonstrations at my school

Whereas the Jews keep pushing Israel to expand and act surprised when the world hates zionists

It seems like it is just not safe to be a Jewish college student in New York City. CUNY, NYU, Columbia ....

I hope I can find a school for my kids to go to that will have as few people like you as possible. I think larger state schools seem to be faring a bit better, fewer attempts by the administration to accommodate and appease blood-thirsty students playing at revolutionary.

A better action is to call Warner and Kaine and thank them for supporting Israel and the zionists

Fixed that for you!

And there you have it.

This is not about being pro-Palestinian rights and freedom. This is not about grief for the suffering of Palestinian civilians.

They don't want pro-Israel protester to exist.

I dare anyone to find a group of students at a mainstream American college who support Israel saying they don't want the Palestinians to exist, and they don't want the pot-Palestinian protesters to exist.

Shut it! Israel in its current form should not exist! There you have it! It is not antisemitism, it is not anti jewish. The state of Israel in its current form is a cancer! The world and jews would have been better off if Israel never existed. The creation of a Jewish state in the middle of the Arab world not only represents the continuation of European colonialism in Palestine, it has also consisted of the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians and the establishment of an apartheid system by a rogue nation that has repeatedly violated international law.

Given this history, the repeated claim made by the United States and other Western nations that Israel’s military actions are merely acts of self-defense contradicts the reality on the ground. Surely it is the violence carried out by people forced to live under a violent illegal military occupation and blockade that should be considered an act of self-defense. After all, the French Resistance to the Nazi occupation of France during World War Two is viewed as a heroic struggle for national liberation. In stark contrast, Palestinian resisters are labelled ‘terrorists.’
Despite the best efforts of the United States and other Western governments as well as the mainstream media to portray Israel as the victim in this conflict, the numbers make evident who is doing most of the killing and who is doing most of the dying. The fact that a people forced to live under an illegal foreign military occupation are portrayed as the aggressors constitutes a stunning example of Orwellian doublespeak.

Sweet tantrum! And the quiet part gets said out loud.

Congratulations, you’re a terrorist.

And if you need a primer on the differences between Hamas and the French partisans of WWII, lmk.

I mean, labels are pointless at this point. Bibi is a terrorist, too, and anyone who supports him is a terrorist, as well. The fact that he stumbles around in a poorly-fitted suit with a smirk on his face, while his dirty work is being done by the great-grandchildren of settlers from places like the Ukraine and Brooklyn, using subsidized US weapons and technology - yeah, that doesn't absolve him at all for his share of foundational blame here. Unnecessary loss of life is tragic, wherever it occurs. That means on 10/7 and for 115 years prior, and certainly for the past nearly three weeks.

I support neither side in this lopsided battle over sand and oil. Spare me the talk of holy lands ...

But above all else, stop trying to bamboozle others into thinking the State of Israel was formed by peaceful, indigenous settlers who were just looking for a friendly welcome wagon greeting from their new neighbors. Wind the clock back another 40 - 50 years to get up to speed on why we are where we are today.

Yawn.
What is reality. It is important to live in reality. The independent, existing, nation-state of Israel, isn't going anywhere. It exists.

Yawn ...

Who said otherwise? Who argued otherwise? The post you responded to didn't argue otherwise.

Look, you can play the smug card all day long, but at the end of that same day, you'll still be supporting a people who believe themselves - in the year 2023 - to be chosen above others. Chosen. Special. Better than others. Just typing and seeing those words in print ... it seems disturbing, no?

Anyway, fairytales just don't do it for me, so more power to you (and your delusions, I guess).

You very direct attempt to make me hate a group of people with you didn't work. Jewish people don't disturb me.

It's 2023 - and hate is unnecessary. Nobody is directly or indirectly attempting to gin up hatred within you. And you are responsible for your own emotions anyway.

I'm merely pointing out that using indefensible, simplistic opinions (that amount to "one side is good and the other side is bad" argument bereft of historical facts) to bamboozle others is dishonest and unhelpful in the drive toward progress.

there needs to be an honest reckoning about how much anti-semitism there is among american blacks. it's like a dam bursting or something. and it's completely ignorant on their part. israel as a country is much more tolerant of the typical black american lifestyle than any muslim majority country, and jews have historically been a great ally of blacks in the u.s. none of these people spouting off their anti-semitism would last a day among muslims. muslims are extremely racist. smh.

The population of lipstick alley is genrally uneducated (you can tell by posts about education, careers, living situations, etc) and LOT of the posters are of African descent (or not) but NOT from the United States--that is, they are not African American--the site does not represent the thoughts of all African Americans; in addition, obviously the people on there spend a lot of time on social media; social media throws arounds the words "POC" and "colonizers" a lot when referring to history and everything is reduced to colonizers oppressed POC throughout history and now--this is the only thing "history" is them them--lipstick alley eats this up, see posts during the time QE2 died for example, lots of rude posts celebrating her death. Unquestioned support for the plight of "Palestinians" is a continuation of this. I am not excusing is, just trying to provide what I think is insight.
-An African American lady who thinks lipstick alley is a fun diversion sometimes but is getting irritated with its ignorance.

I had a similar encounter in a DC cab years ago. I don't remember the ethnicity of the cab driver, but he spoke with a foreign accent. He referenced "your people" and I couldn't figure out what he meant. I am half Southern European and look mildly "ethnic." Turns out he thought I was Jewish.

I look Mediterranean because my family is from the Mediterranean, Sicily. I looked a lot like Anne Frank when I was a little girl. I read her diary in my elementary school, a Catholic school. I will never forget. I am so sorry for my Jewish friends (and family, we are an interfaith extended family), who have to go through this. We shouldn't have to deal with the stress of not only the Hamas attack in Israel, but these political attacks on our own soil in the U.S.

The incident at Cooper Union is chilling. The school's statement, though, seems to shrug it off.

I'm a Jew and have literally never heard a Jew refer to him or herself as "Chosen". But I have noticed that Jew-haters like to use the "chosen people" moniker from the Bible to say that Jews think they're "chosen".
Reminds me of the Christian fundamentalists who insist that people get offended by "Merry Christmas" when it doesn't actually happen, it's just something they make up or grossly exaggerate in order to rile themselves up.

Can you rank order how much stress and sorrow you have for the following groups?

1. Israeli citizens harmed on and around 10/7 by Hamas militant / terrorist attacks
2. Americans who identify as Jewish who have been harmed by "these political attacks on our own soil"?
3. Refugees in Gaza who have been harmed since 10/7 by IDF and related responses to 10/7

Curious to get a read on the empathy meter here.

Sadly, yes.
I always thought there was solidarity between the communities.
According to LSA though, Jews are wholly responsible for the slave trade, force Black men to make misogynic and violent music in order to make them look bad, etc.

Where is your evidence that American Jews are pushing Israel to expand? That's an outright lie.

And I should note that you seem to expect diaspora Jews to work to dismantle Israel, while you clearly don't think pro-Palestine folks should speak out against Hamas.
