US has no good options in Ukraine

Putin is betting that the poisonous political polarization unleased by Trump is going to undermine the American-led response. If that happens then our world order will destabilize. These next couple of weeks are exceedingly pivotal.

There are enough adults left in the GOP who get this, especially in the Senate. They need to stand up and shut down the moronic Trump acolytes in the House.

Amen. I'd love it if they could just for a while rally around the flag and democracy. We're witnessing history folks. This is going to go down like 9/11, COVID and the great recession but probably bigger than all three if Putin continues down this path. I want to be aligned with my fellow Americans against a common enemy -- hell, that might be the only thing that brings people together (it did during the Cold War).

Have you been paying attention to the GOP lately? Who are these adults? It's like Romney, Cheney, Kinzinger, and Murkowski, and they are outcasts.

Putin is just an aggrieved bully with an insane persecution complex. F*ck that clown and the imbecile Russian popular that props him up. Russia’s economy is 60% energy and on par with Italy. Kleptocracy ruled by autocrats and pppulated by morons.

No, it's not just those Members. It's also the likes of McConnell, Portman, Burr, Murkowski, Collins, etc. -- Members who are (domestic politics aside) staunch champions of democracy and get what's at stake here.

Those people have shown absolutely no inclination to stand up to the Trumpists. They have folded every single time in the past, and I expect no better from them now.

How to tell someone you don't understand the sanctions.

Hell. Even CNN recognizes the sanctions won't do squat.

The US does not unilaterally control SWIFT, dumb dumb. It's a consortium.

Italy and Cyprus said they wouldn't support kicking Russia out of SWIFT.

Nope. The US can fine any bank with US operations doing business with a Russian bank though

Russian stock market indices are down 30-40%. Billions worth of rubles went up in smoke.

Yep, if I'm Finland, I'm trying real fast to get my NATO membership card. Putin seems determined to re-create the Russian Empire.

So if Biden sending in troops and setting sanctions is too weak, what do the Trumpies suggest he do?

NP here:

WTF is your issue? You seem determined to bring down this POTUS and the world order - that has greatly benefited Americans of every color and class - with a quickness.

Republicans and their anarchists online hoards need to figure their sh#t out. Do you support Putin or Biden? There's really no middle ground here.
