Why is Blake Lively so overrated?

She has a lot of receipts. Get real. This is a slam dunk.

Well that settles it. Why even have the trial.

I dgaf if you “like her” or not. But you don’t know her, number 1. But even if you did and had valid grounds to dislike her, that’s irrelevant to her claims. She does have evidence for those claims and they appear legit and persuasive. At least to any reasonable person.

I had not heard of this term before the BL V JB saga and at first rolled my eyes. However, when I looked up the meaning and usage on Wikipedia : I can see it is an excellent analogy for misusing the internet to create illusions of both positive and negative support for products/ celebrities online.

From wiki
"Astroturfing" on the internet refers to the practice of creating the illusion of widespread public support for a product, policy, or idea by using fake online identities to post positive comments or reviews, essentially making it appear like a grassroots movement when it's actually orchestrated by a single entity, like a company or political group; essentially, "fake grassroots" activity online.
Key points about astroturfing:

Origin of the term:
"Astroturf" is a brand name for artificial grass, so the term implies a fake, manufactured version of genuine public opinion.

How it's done:
Astroturfers often create multiple fake online accounts (sometimes called "sockpuppet" accounts) to post seemingly organic comments or reviews across different platforms, giving the impression of broad public support.

Why it's problematic:
Astroturfing can manipulate public perception by creating a false sense of consensus, potentially influencing people's opinions without them realizing the source of the information

Thanks for this explanation. I never created a fake account on DCUM or the Daily Mail. Many commenter on DM are real people. I think it is hard for some people in entertainment to accept that they don't have a positive image with regular people. They think they can control and manipulate people into liking them because they are used to getting what they want. People either like you or they don't. Period.

DP - I think many of us had no personal opinion on either BL or JB before this blow up.

I still don’t have a personal opinion on them as people because I don’t know them. People either like their work or not - but even then many of us have more nuanced views on movies rather than like or don’t like. I neither loved nor hated the “It ends with us” movie.

I do think that online misogyny is demonstrated as a real phenomenon with far reaching consequences. The JB PR people were able to exploit online misogynistic tendencies to smear her reputation as an actress.

There are no doubt some people such as yourself who simply don’t like her work. She is not one of my favorite actresses but I applaud her and her husband for tackling the smear campaign that followed confronting sexual harassment on the movie set .

My only opinion prior to this was that they were cloying and annoying with their planted stories about trolling each other on social media. Like Ryan would "troll" Blake about her birthday, ha ha. I found it very try hard that they wanted to seem so funny and sexy as a couple and went out of their way "trolling" each other.

What does that have to do with anything? The PP was correct that the abject misogyny in this country try was easy for JV to exploit. And look here. 90+ pages focusing on how people don’t like her. And using that for not believing her.

Shame on all of you.

Yes, I imagine that Baldoni will settle rather than have the facts be verified by testimony at trial.

Yep. And those same people are automatically giving an unknown, who seems utterly friendless with zero professional support, the ultimate benefit of the doubt. They just keep going on and on about Blake. Because she’s blond or something.

He has to be mortified and completely embarrassed at this point, if he has an ounce of humility.

Because it goes against the idea that people only disliked Blake Lively due to alleged "astroturfing." Oh yes, reality is shameful. People do not have to like celebrities.

I predict his countersuit will reveal them both to be vile, disingenuous liars. They would rather ruin themselves in seeking revenge than be decent humans to begin with. That industry is so toxic. Something inherently dysfunctional about a person who seeks Hollywood celebrity in any form.

So only people you like can be sexually harassed? Everyone else deserves it because you don’t like them?

It is not abject misogyny just because someone does not like a woman.. You are not entitled to be liked just because you are a woman. People are allowed to form different opinions. The neediness and arrogance is unreal.

No my point is that your messiah Blake was not universally loved and admired before this scandal. Her supporters seem to think that everyone loved her and then Baldoni destroyed her reputation. She is welcome to prove her case in court like any other plaintiff.
