Why is Blake Lively so overrated?

For starters, the PR campaign to attack her for not talking about DV when it was specifically in her contract NOT to highlight it. Per the leaked texts, JB deliberately veered to talking about DV not because he felt passionately about it but because to intentionally make her look bad.

This is not rumor or conjecture, it is in the leaked texts and copy of her contract.

For another, let's bring up how he had MULTIPLE HR complaints against him from cast on set, not just Blake. Things like commenting on people's appearances, asking Blake if she w*tches porn or climaxes at the same time as her husband.

And my point is: plenty of people already disliked Blake before this film for the reasons given above. Blake was an annoying try hard before this ever happened and it had nothing to do with JB.

I can acknowledge that some people disliked Lively prior to, and separate and apart from this PR campaign, and well before she ever met Baldoni.

Can you acknowledge Baldoni's poor behavior and sexual harassment documented on set?

I'll acknowledge what she claims. She had the burden to prove the allegations in court. If she gets a verdict in her favor I will acknowledge that a jury found JB civilly liable.

But you don’t have a problem with any of that. Interesting.

So Justin Baldoni duped Blake Lively into try hard social media posts with Ryan Reynolds. I guess he also forced her to ve a Taylor Swift fangirl. Justin, what an all knowing and powerful force

Keep ignoring the multiple HR complaints against him from other cast members. Keep it up!

So you are not going to acknowledge that some people legitimately already disliked BL before this dumb movie. In your mind, she was admired and loved by everyone until Baldoni ruined it. Yeah ok. Are you the publicist who writes the posts where RR " sexy trolls" Blake?

That has ZERO to do with this case! Doesn't matter and if you try to make an argument that it does, you a part of the problem.

It has to do with the fact that you are claiming that astroturfing is the only reason people don't like Blake Lively. Plenty of people disliked her before she worked with Baldoni. Her and RR's "couple goals" social media was so annoying and cloying and it was before this movie or Justin Baldoni. Now you are probably going to tell me that JB forced their vomitous couple goals "funny" content as part of a grand effort to humiliate Blake Lively. Maybe he hacked Ryan's Instagram and made up those stupid jokes.

I don't think anyone is saying "only." That's what's insidious about this stuff. Sometimes you feel it's fake or off but it could be legit public opinion. Of course there is a mix of people who honestly don't like her (for good reasons, dumb reasons, whatever) and the astroturfing that amplifies it and also turns some real people against her (who end up parroting the opinions of the paid troll). But is it 90% fake and 10% real? 90/10 the other way? 50/50? Who knows. And I'm sure celebs feel this way all the time. They may sense it's happening but not know the extent of it. You can't randomly subpoena PR agencies without a reason. Given she had made a sexual harassment claim, and retaliation against such claims is a lega, she had that opening to issue the subpoena, and found what she expected to find, and it all went public. It doesn't mean it's the only case or worst case of this, it's just the one we have available, and it's interesting to discuss.

I didn't know much about Blake or Justin before this all blew up. I knew she was married to Ryan Reynolds and that was about it. Then I saw all kinds of postings about how awful she was and horrible of a person and everything. I remember thinking it was strange as I had barely ever heard of her and then there was suddenly so much about her everywhere and all bad. I still don't know much about her or Justin but based on the documents used to sue, I would side with her at this point in this case.

Similar with the Depp / Heard. I didn't really know much about either of them. I listened to a lot of the videos submitted as evidence and sided with Depp with regards to the trial but ended up with a negative view of both of them. Still don't know much about them and have no desire to really.

I am not really interested in the celebrity world at all but we get a lot of documents / evidence that you don't get for the everyday person so it is interesting to see the court processes and all the related documents / files etc.

Ok, I don't think the fact that she got a subpoena means that she will succeed. She still has the burden of proof.

Remember when Angelina Jolie got the emails from the studio heads saying she was a brat actress who likes to adopt Black babies? She did not get some giant settlement for that because the emails affirmed public opinion of Jolie as an oddball. A lot of it will depend on whether the jury finds Lively and her hot lover credible. Also keep in mind that their personal communications could be exposed and put them in a bad light too. We will not know until the case gets to court.
Anonymous
And it's not that hard to get a subpoena in Califirnia. My sense is the studio did not care to fight about it because it was easier to just hand over Baldoni's emails after they received the subpoena. They dropped JB anyway so at this point he's nothing to them.

Exactly how I feel. Sometimes when I'm bored and I see a thread being bumped a lot here, I'll check in on it even though I don't know much about the celebs. I remember reading pages and pages about the baby bump interview, and then seeing the clip and feeling like "that's it?" It felt off. The Amber Heard stuff always felt off too (and I had never heard of her at all prior to that so definitely wasn't a fan). I was surprised at how much hate she got outside of reddit (which I expect to be misogynistic). Now I see that it's the same PR firm and it just all clicks.

I agree. I am the poster you are responding to and I noticed the same about Heard after the trial. I had watched and listened to a lot of the evidence and didn't have a positive view of her but then was surpised to suddenly see so much hate and criticism after the trial towards her. Rather than threads dicussing the case, it was mostly just criticsm of her. It was really disproportionate, similar to the Blake criticism - where these barely known people just suddenly blow up online and its all negative and critical.

I don’t understand the question. Can you clarify?

If Lively was harassed as described in her complaint, then Baldoni deserved being fired as director and actor. However, I watched the Norwegian journalist’s “interview” of Lively, done 3 years before the movie, and frankly found Lively to be extremely rude. She was the perfect Mean Girl from high school in that interview. Then add in her vacuous attitude during interviews about the current movie and frankly, she seems like an entitled little white girl who is married to a very wealthy and powerful man who is leading a PR attack on a guy most people have never even heard of.

You said "but you don't have a problem with any of that." My question is what "any of that" is supposed to mean.

Because her lover with the hot and sexy marriage- Ryan Reynolds- will have to testify in the court case and he will be evaluated by the jury like every other witness. So he has a lot to do with it.
Anonymous
All that matters is how the jury views the witnesses and their credibility.. Blake can post stories until she's purple in the face. She still has to convince 12 people on a jury to vote for her.
