I am an immigrant who became a citizen. You are right about that. HOWEVER, we are talking about ILLEGALs. How are they paying taxes?

I was just talking to my neighbor about this today. She came here LEGALLY from Argentina, two decades ago. She waited patiently and did everything legally, all with no money to her name. When she was finally allowed in the country, she worked LEGALLY like a dog and saved every penny, paid her taxes, etc. She is furious with what Biden has allowed to happen at the border. This is a huge issue, especially for those who waited their turn to come here and did everything by the book. Democrats are so clueless.

But I do agree with PP that at this point, only those in bold should be allowed in. Only self-supporting, educated people who can add to our economy and not drain it.

The poor immigrants are taking low-paying laboring jobs that no American citizen wants. The foreign grad students who come on student visas and then manipulate the system to stay here on work visas are the ones taking good jobs that otherwise probably would go to American citizens.

Those "poor immigrants" are mostly present illegally and have no right to be in the country.
And, because Biden has allowed our borders to be effectively opened, we have a record amount of fentanyl flowing in, a record number of got-aways in our country, and a record number of migrants who have died en route to the US.

Borders need to be closed PERIOD. There are others coming in illegally, not just central Americans. I don't think people really understand the crisis at hand. Ask mayor of New York. He is finally understanding this issue.

DP. Yep. The mayors of NYC, Chicago, etc. are *finally* grasping what Texas and Arizona have been dealing with. Should have happened a long time ago. These people will pretend there's no crisis until it settles in their own backyards.

As someone who isn’t really passionate about immigration, I’ll say objectively that it irritates me that immigration is so politicized. The videos of all those folks in NYC at that hotel and all the hateful comments befuddle me. All these folks are lined up neatly, staying behind barriers, waiting patiently, and they all entered lawfully. All they want is temporary shelter while they get their work permit - and then they want to work and get their piece of the dream.

We need conservative governors to stop filing stupid lawsuits against things like DACA, and we need immigration advocates to stop filing lawsuits against common sense regulation that helps the government better control border flows.

I think we should all agree that we need safe, legal, and orderly immigration and that we need robust budgets for border protection and enforcement, as well as a technology investment that will help immigration officers, especially asylum officers, be able to streamline and automate clerical functions.

Biden's policies have caused:
- a RECORD number of encounters at our border to the point that the agents who used to patrol our borders for illegal crossers have now been pulled to process these migrants.
- a RECORD amount of fentanyl and other illegal drugs flowing into our country because, once again, agents who used to patrol for these substances have been pulled to process and transport those entering illegally.
- a RECORD number of migrant deaths.
- a RECORD number of got aways since, again, the agents who are tasked with patrolling and protecting our border are now processing and transporting migrants.

There is NOTHING "objectively" better about any of this.

Insufferable! Who would you hire to clean your toilets or pay minimum wage to take care of your brats? I would bet that your ancestors were no better educated than those you want to bar from entering the country.

Considering I clean my own toilets and take care of my own kids (yours may be brats, but mine are not), I won't be paying anyone. As for insufferable, tell us more about how there is no crisis and nothing to see here.
