Looks like a new Gaza war has started

It really is a scary time to be a Jew in the west, and particularly on campus.
And that does not mean that it's not scary to be a civilian in Gaza, or that there are never Islamophobic crimes in the west.

But anti-semitism is everywhere right now, and if you claim it's not, you're deliberately ignoring it.

And FWIW, on Jewish online forums, a large number of people are talking about moving to Israel. Because they feel that they'd be safer there.

Because Israel won't guarantee them a right of return.

Among other reasons.

So better dead in Gaza? Oh is it just convenient for Egypt to say this?

Absolutely. The woman who was released said they walked for 2-3 hours in the tunnels before they got to the place where they held her.

Can you imagine trying to fight people in a tunnel system you’ve never been in before?

The whole idea of peace is very utopian
War to end all wars and break down Hamas and redraw the borders of Gaza?

Really?

The world is not playing this stupid game anymore. Neither the Palestinians nor the Israelis are going anywhere. Both sides need to come to terms with that reality.

This is a very interesting and thoughtful thread from someone who considers himself a “derad,” also known as a de-radicalized Islamic extremist.

In Herndon va, everyone I know is starting to question why we are supporting Israel, out loud .

Israel keeps sending religious fanatics into the West Bank. Why?

Well that’s what a military is for. One can put gas in the tunnels to poison . Hamas purposely sequestered themselves in well fortified bunkers because they knew the IDF wouldn’t come to them.

It is a shitty thing to do because the civilians of Gaza are the ones that pay the price.

But what is the solution if Hamas is either relaxing comfortably in Qatar or in underground apartment style bunkers that probably put our own White House bunkers to shame?

The settlers are extremists.

But to use them as an excuse for not wanting to allow Israel to defend itself is like using US militias in Michigan as an excuse to demonize the entire US population.

These are bunkers/underground apartments not even tunnels . It’s obviously safe from the IDF bombing. The Israeli hostages there were safer than Gazans. The IDF military strategy does nothing to get rid of Hamas or free the hostages. It’s all about killing kids and families with 5,000 pound bombs . Yes- that is the way to get rid of Hamas, for sure.

Which is why Israel and Egypt are not allowing fuel into Gaza. Those tunnels are dependent on generators for ventilation. No fuel. No generators. And then Hamas will have to rise to the surface. If the hospitals need fuel for their generators, Hamas has plenty. But thy'd rather see Palestinians die then help.

Heck, it was reported that when Egypt wanted to eliminate the tunnels, it flooded them. Egypt is playing three dimensional chess.

But if the hostages are there?? 😳

I just keep thinking of the babies in the incubators.

They are no more precious of course than the Jewish babies that were killed and kidnapped, but we did not have advanced warning that they were going to be harmed.

We , as adults in charge, just cannot stand by and let those infants die. If women were in charge of Hamas , Israel and Egypt, that would not happen.

This is a very interesting article about the tunnel system and how difficult it is to operate down there:

The settlers are vocal, not a minority.

Your comparison to Michigan is offensive. Michigan doesn’t have militias
