Biden's VP?

That doesn't eliminate the possibility of trying to reach out to the Latino vote with either Lujan Grisham or Cortez Masto. Or reaching out to the Asian and disabled communitiese with the decorated war veteran, Duckworth. All of those are very viable candidates that would appeal to some groups that may not currently be supporters and all of those would appeal to moderate and Independent voters who are on the fence.

Much like the Dem candidates for pres were woefully unappealing, the VP options are not any better. No one to get excited about. Disappointed

The race bump is more limited among Latinos than other racial/ethnic groups for some reason. Kamala provides arguable the most statistically significant ethnicity bump of the major candidates. Energizing the entire Indian American community to vote blue could be enough to swing PA (they’re small but big enough, especially in Philly suburbs and Main Line, to make the difference).

But that will just be part one of the campaign. Putin’s bot and troll army also will rise up to capitalize on hurt feelings over who was *not* picked. It’s going to get ugly very quickly.

Don't fall for it.

I agree, and I love this guy, too, but just link his tweet instead of copy/paste.

I guess pp is fine with taking other people's words and using them as her own.

Well, Biden has been caught doing that. Kindred spirits?

My prediction last month...

He listed her as a prospect early on. Heck, George Will endorsed her as the VP pick. Effective legislator, executive experience--definitely the kind of governing partner Biden would prefer. But doesn't make sense in terms of demographics. I do think he needs someone from the Midwest or Southwest.

Warren stood apart in the vast field of candidates from the beginning. That fact never changed throughout all of the extensive vetting.

She easily "checked all of the boxes" (even before Biden promised his VP would be a woman) - her temperament and experience were the deciding factors. Biden's team views these skills as essential to leading the country in a post COVID-19 environment.

Though the campaign will work to keep the selection confidential, the media will slowly pick up on this decision over the next two weeks.

Warren is a bad pick. There are many who view Biden's age, mental health and physical health as major issues and questions for his candidacy. Those voters, many of whom are uncommitted and very important to sway want to see a younger candidate. A major concern for both Biden and Trump is that both are in the most susceptible age groups to Covid-19. They are the most likely age group to have complications, serious health issues, require hospitalization and be at risk for long-term illness and/or death if they become infected. Both are at risk to have extended illnesses that would keep them out of office for weeks or months and require the VP to take over. Warren does not alleviate this concern as she is also in the same age category and just as susceptible as they are to infection, serious complications, hospitalization and risk of death. in addition, Biden has pretty much admitted he would be a one-term president. He needs to pick a VP candidate who would be the heir presumptive of his administration and who would be ready to lead the party in 4 years. If Warren were to last to 2024, she would be 75 when assuming office and would have all of the same health issues that are facing Biden now. That is not confidence building.

Biden needs to pick someone well south of 70, preferably under or around 60 who has executive experience in running government. Warren is a brilliant candidate, but she is too old to offset the age concerns of Biden and while she has good ideas, she has no executive experience. She would be a better choice to stay as a senator or to be offered a position like Chief of Staff, Senior advisor or Cabinet member for some position where you need good domestic policy.

I didn't vote for Warren in the primary but I truly think she would be the best person to get us out of this current COVID mess, both from a public health perspective and an economic perspective. She is analytical and detail-oriented. I think part of her downfall was that she is too cerebral, but we really need someone like that working behind the scenes right now.

Unfortunately I agree that picking her would be a gift to Trump. She is not popular with men, especially white men without a college degree. Though I'm not sure if any woman Biden picks would be.

Warren is not popular with any race of men with or without college degrees. She has that same lecturing schoolmarm persona as HRC.
