The intent of the staging was to cover up what their son did. The violation with the paint brush, the complicated knots, the strangulation would not be something that a 9 year old kid would do. This wasn't a sex crime. This was an inadvertent death staged to look like a sex crime. |
As hairy as that beard was and as much flannel as they seemed to wear fibers would've been all over that notebook. Esp in winter. Additionally, did they have pet dog? |
This is crazy. So she took a pad of paper and pen with the intent of returning them later and with no fear that Patsy would notice the notepad she uses had disappeared? Then she and/or her husband brought the pen and paper back upon their intrusion and neatly returned them to their original locations, but they planned to use whatever weapons they could manage to find inside the home for the actual misdeed, rather than bring their own along with the notepad? And all of this was somehow done without waking anyone up? |
Then why didn't police find any fibers or hair from the McReynolds when they were there on the 12/23. They had a dog but they shared it with the neighbor. It was probably with the neighbor at the time. |
I like this guys theory: https://m.reddit.com/r/JonBenet/comments/52xuoh/jonbenet_extensive_bdi_theory_garrotte_used_to/?utm_source=mweb_redirect&compact=false |
The duct tape and rope were brought by the intruder. JB was assulted by a paint brush. In the case that Janet wrote her play about the victim was assulted with a coke bottle by a woman. |
I was strongly in the Santa/intruder camp and now I think Burke hitting her makes more sense. Not to kill but to hurt.
His whole smearing fecal matter on things - the kid had emotional problems and I get his mom had cancer - but he wasn't getting the help he needed. He needed to be in therapy, also think he was on the spectrum. Lots of challenges. But think he did it not meaning to kill her and parents covered it up. Hearbreaking story - I feel so bad for the parents. I don't agree at all with what they did but feel awful for them. |
Burke did receive therapy to deal with everything that he and his family went through. He is now a grown man, a college graduate, he has a career and he is in a steady relationship with a nice young woman. I suppose that's about as good of an outcome as anyone could hope for. |
That award winning play that Janet wrote was based on a true crime that happened way back in the 70's. Her husband had had major open heart surgery (bypass/valve replacement). They had nothing to do with JonBenet's death. |
It is a good theory. It makes sense that Burke woke up Patsy who screamed, and Patsy didn't know what to do, so she woke up John. John fashioned the garrotte. Patsy wrote the note. But as to who would have stuck that paint brush into JB.... I can't even imagine. If the body was moved from where the kids were playing to the wine cellar, and the paint brush had been in the wine cellar, then that suggests one of the parents. |
If they staged it to protect Burke it wasn't to keep him from getting arrested but to keep him from knowing he killed his sister. |
I think it's an interesting theory. I only have a few issues with it: -If JB was struck with the flashlight by Burke, wouldn't they have removed it from the kitchen counter? In the crime scene photos, that giant mag light is sitting out in the kitchen, plain as day. If John and Patsy went to that much trouble to stage the crime, they would remove the murder weapon from the main area people congregate. Why bother wiping it down and then leave it out? -I still don't see them using the garrote on their daughter. It is so heinous to imagine them strangling their own child with this weapon that is effectively used to torture and execute people. Surely they could've used something less barbaric. That garrote was pulled so tight and her neck was so red and purple from those ligature marks. I just can't see them doing that to her if this was a cover-up for an accident. The sexual assault with the paint brush I don't get either. -I'm not sure of the timing of this reddit guy's theory but seems the parents would've had time to remove the body and bury her somewhere. That would've left far less evidence than keeping her in the basement. Surely burying her somewhere would be more humane than sexually assaulting her and tying a garrote around her neck. |
Do we know how much time they spent in the house that evening? A walking tour could consist of just that walking thru. But I am going to venture and guess that it's like when you tour a small museum house and even though you've been there and touched things so have so many others that day and any trace of you disappears. Esp when you are all looking at the same decorations. |
Just guesses but: The flashlight had no trace of prints not even on the button to turn it on.. it was clearly wiped down including the batteries. It could've been forgotten in the riush of things. It was a gift from John andrew to John. So it was not brought in by an intruder. They most likely thought she was dead already at that point and the discoloration is likely from Fluid buildup post mortem. Remember their goal was to make it seem real and legit to protect Burke and throw off the trail to him. They risked being seen by neighbors or surveillance cameras from stores and the like had they gone out and returned. Think about it --if they cal the police to say there had been a kidnapping but there was evidence that their vehicles had been moved it would've been investigated and obvious. They were left with no choice but to leave her in the home. |
It was premeditated by an intruder or intruder. Half the words in the note came from the movie Ransom that had been playing in movie theaters November 1996. The killer must have seen that movie multiple times. I think one intruder tricked the other intruder into helping commit the crime. One intruder knew the Ramseys personally and had a sick obsession with John Benet. The other intruder was duped into helping thinking they would make some money. The second intruder could have Hegolth that was later found dead with the stun gun. |
