Since 2001, Palestinian militants have launched tens of thousands[1][2][3][4] of rocket and mortar attacks on Israel from the Gaza Strip as part of the continuing Israeli–Palestinian conflict. The attacks, widely condemned for targeting civilians, have been described as terrorism by the United Nations, the European Union, and Israeli officials, and are defined as war crimes by human rights groups Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch. The international community considers indiscriminate attacks on civilian targets to be illegal under international law.[5][6] Palestinian militants say rocket attacks are a response to Israel's blockade of Gaza,[7][8][9] but the Palestinian Authority has condemned them and says rocket attacks undermine peace.[10] From 2004 to 2014, these attacks have killed 27 Israeli civilians, 5 foreign nationals, 5 IDF soldiers, and at least 11 Palestinians[11] and injured more than 1900 people.[12] Medical studies in Sderot, the Israeli city closest to the Gaza Strip, have documented a post-traumatic stress disorder incidence among young children of almost 50%, as well as high rates of depression and miscarriage.[13][14][15] A public opinion poll conducted in March 2013 found that a majority of Palestinians do not support firing rockets at Israel from the Gaza Strip, with only 38% favoring their use.[16] Another poll conducted in September 2014 found that 80% of Palestinians support firing rockets against Israel, if it does not allow unfettered access to Gaza.[17 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palestinian_rocket_attacks_on_Israel |
Nah, that poster lives in a condo with no yard space. |
If that were the case, there wouldn’t be a SCOTUS case going on this very moment about that same issue. |
RE GWU encampment-DC will never be a state.
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) and Education Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx (R-NC) called the protests “radical, unlawful and antisemitic” in a letter Tuesday. They threatened to use the “legislative powers” of Congress to intervene. But I actually think this gives the mayor cover, she has to intervene because congress told her to. |
there’s TONS of footage out there of the UCLA protestors aggressively blocking students from campus areas, chasing them, etc, and most offensively, demanding political loyalty statements before permitting access to the campus. what they got was literally the equal and opposite reaction to what they did, pure physics. this is why the campus administrators should have shut down the encampment on day 1. |
So maybe the protesters can occupy the condo lobby and harass people coming and going? Apparently it’s a free-for-all. |
The lawsuits are already being filed - these campuses are going to pay dearly for not protecting students’ access to an education. |
LOLOLOL. MPD saved Congress’s butts when their own sorry-*ss Capitol Police couldn’t defend the Capitol on J6. I think I’m gonna defer to MPD’s take on how best to manage the GW protest. (And I’m saying this as someone who 100% supported the NYPD action last night at Columbia.) |
you must be joking |
We’ll see what happens. But I truly wonder who indoctrinated these little idiots into the belief that their exclusionary bullying is a good tactic. |
No she doesn’t. Congress has no power over MPD or the DC National Guard without Biden’s signature. |
I’m not sure this was about moral high ground. It was a show of force reaction to being forcibly bullied off their own campus. 100% predictable. What did those little dummies think was going to happen? |
She didn’t claim that and was clear what authority she does have. …“Columbia's continued failure to restore order and safety promptly to campus constitutes a major breach of the University’s Title VI obligations, upon which federal financial assistance is contingent, and which must immediately be rectified," she continued. "If you do not rectify this danger, then the Committee will not hesitate in holding you accountable." |
I’m not sure that’s the end game for Hamas or Palestinians, but I’ll take your word for it for the sake of dialogue. Then let Israel root out Hamas, rebuild a beautiful new civilization that is part of Israel and adheres to the Israeli government’s laws, and zero exceptions allowing people to opt out of adhering to civil rights/human rights based on religion/culture. If the Palestinians can assimilate and embrace Israel, then that would be amazing. I just don’t see that happening what with the whole “death to Israel” thing. I thought they wanted their own state that essentially pushes Israel out of existence? And then onward to the entire West? |
