We are wittnessing the demise of a once great republic

Maybe the tremendous amount of comments and outrage for Kirk vs Sandy Hook is more about the shock of actually seeing the murder on film, replayed over and over - It is shocking. If the murders of innocent children and the aftermath was shown, the impact would be overwhelming and maybe then, gun laws would the change.

We were also doing this yesterday before this happened.

The political violence in our country in just the past couple years is staggering! Trump assassination attempt, United healthcare, Minnesota, now Utah. I don’t think it’s about either party, really, but indicative of disgust with a political system that appears to mostly favor billionaires and does not respond to the needs of most people. People feel powerless and that they have nothing to lose. It is like the 1960’s again but the outcome is still unclear.

Yes, but instead of blaming the billionaires that influence and benefit the most from our political system, both sides blame each other.

Charlie wasn’t a public official.

Charlie wasn’t a candidate for public office.

Charlie wasn’t a corporate executive, supposedly personally “responsible” for any negative effects of corporate policies.

Charlie wasn’t a foreign diplomat or staff to whom blame for that foreign nation’s policies could be ascribed.

No, Charlie was an advocate for his faith and his political beliefs, as well as for open and cordial debate about both. This was a political assassination at its most basic core - not because someone was angry about a policy that Charlie had enacted, or that he was currently facilitating, or that he might in the future implement - but rather for no other reason than the public expression of his ideas. He was shot because of his discussions about his beliefs and for no other reason; and that should be a wake up call for all of us, right and left.

This will not end well.

It’s no coincidence that the billionaires own the social media platforms that stoke and amplify the vitriol. Wake up, people.

+1 like the civil rights movement and the Vietnam War, we are in the middle of a difficult time period. There was a whole slew of killing and bombings during that time. We had a calm time period prior but the anger has came back. I can only hope we come out of it okay like we did that time. Political Violence is not new, it’s just on the upswing.

So is Laura Loomer part of the "others" that Trump was excoriating in his Oval Office comments?

Anger sells and keeps eyeballs on screens while they collect your data and sell it so they can find even more ways to keep you looking at the screen.
