Full blown. It's all trans in bathrooms and George Floyd/riots! That's all they got. Wait until they start hearing him speak! This is going to be delicious.

The riots and overall breakdown of law and order in our cities is where the Democrats are most vulnerable. Expect to hear about Kamala’s San Francisco and Tim’s Minneapolis nonstop for the next three months.

Did January 6th not happen? I don't understand how GOP are so concerned about some riots and not others. It's weird.

Bingo

All riots should be equally disdained regardless of the issue behind it because more often than not it's some nut job extremist thugs who don't actually care about the issue behind it....but as such should also be equally prosecuted and equally thought of as wrong regardless of the issue. It's never ok to destroy property regardless of the issue or topic period.

I agree. I read an article about The riots in MN and poor reaction time. Walz was very honest about it all and how it was not handled well. Now contrast that with Trump who still thinks January 6th was a good thing.

True - but I also know many Dems who think the BLM riots were a good thing too.

Dems supported the peaceful protests and criticized where the looting and property damage took place.

Well I'll rephrase,"I have personally spoken to more than one Dem who feels the looting and property damage was justified". But we are going off-topic now. Back to Tim Walz....honestly...I don't care how he reacted to the BLM riots because it was an extremely difficult time. I also don't care about anything he did or didn't do 20 yrs ago. I do care about his political views and social ideology which are too progressive for my taste. Not saying it's going to make me vote for Trump but I am now strongly considering staying home...and this is coming from someone who was pushing their DD to go out and vote because of the importance of voting - DD doesn't care to vote this year either. I can see her point of view.

What ideology do you find too progressive?

You cite a ton of right wing talking points and misrepresentations (no one takes you seriously when your argument is a strawman), but I think you should have read the article you posted before spouting off about “teaching gender ideology” and from a “news” outlet in Austin, TX owned by Sinclair. But even they were able to sneak in the fact that it’s not teaching gender ideology but respecting all students, including the ones who were being bullied for being gay. So you want gay kids to get bullied? That’s essentially what you said.

And to try to pull some grapes out of your cornucopia of misled: that was an Osseo, MN policy, not a state wide one. Good lord. You are bad at this, “independent.”

This was just one point in response to someone who asked "What ideology do you find too progressive?" And I stand by my post - this is one area that I find too progressive/liberal. But I am also pro-LGBTQ rights -- it's something the progressive/liberal left can't seem to comprehend which is so frustrating -- you can support LGBTQ rights but also disagree with certain specific issues. The all-or-nothing attitude of the left is tiresome. Just as tiresome as the all-or-nothing attitude of the right when it comes to abortion. Same thing.

I’m not all or nothing; you know nothing about but you feel free to make assumptions about me. I pointed out that what you claim was being taught in all Minnesota schools was in fact not being taught and the program was in one school district, and you cited a far right wing “news” source to demonstrate it.

There are 8,998 people watching the video. That is abysmally low.

You’re right. Nobody cares about the Harris/Walz rally. The excitement and energy in Philly is excruciating low. No one is tuning in from around the country and the globe. /s

Viewers are a good way to measure interest and appeal. Live events should have huge numbers of people watching.

So you think the pp went through all the feeds showing the rally, added up the viewer numbers and came up with just shy of 9000?? Absolutely! And I have a bridge to sell you…. The MAGA disinfo machine has become super lazy. Your lies are not even plausible anymore.

Yup.

Just looking at the livestream on various channels, all via YouTube:
PBS: 49,000 watching
FOX: 201,000 views
Face the nation: 30,000
AP: 35,000 watching

So that’s a few people, just on one platform.

Hi PP, I'm the one that asked you the question. Thank you for writing out the response. I'd like to share my thoughts about each point you shared.

Immigration: I am strongly supportive of border security and even revoking automatic citizenship if born in US (Rep) - also, apply 3 strikes and you're deported laws for illegal immigrants committing crime. Illegal immigrants should not have the right to vote at all. I am for establishing universal Citizen Cards...like almost every other country in the world.
I disagree with you on the idea of revoking automatic citizenship. Illegal immigrants cannot vote in the United States, so this is not a major concern. You need to be a citizen to vote, either born or naturalized. Neither Harris nor Walz disagree with you about this, so you can feel hopefully reassured if you choose to cast a vote for them.

Crime -- stop rewarding criminal activity with catch & release!! This article appears to be on point: https://www.newsweek.com/tim-walz-has-been-disaster-minnesotans-opinion-1935402
I'd have to read up on this more to understand what the concern is here. Unfortunately criminal justice is a complex topic.

Foreign Policy: I am anti carte blanche military support of any foreign country without checks & balances.
Do you feel Harris and Walz disagree with you? In what ways?

Human Rights: I support equal human rights - I support of LGBTQ Rights so long as those rights are not to the detriment of another protected class (Religious Rights) -- gender ideology does not belong in schools; puberty blockers for minor children is wrong (a child cannot fully understand who they are without first going through puberty which normal human biology. This case is on point: https://www.boredpanda.com/dad-granted-full-c...ised-son-non-binary/ -- 4 yr olds should not be forced to be non-binary...geez let kids be kids. I've had enough of the WOKE labels just because of having one's own opinions, beliefs and values. This applies across all topics....saying you don't support Israel doesn't mean you are anti-semetic, saying you are pro-Palestinian doesn't mean you support terrorists. Saying you don't support puberty blockers for young children doesn't mean you are anti-trans.
Based on what I have seen as both a parent and teacher in the past few years, I imagine this issue feels the most pressing to you. I feel that biology matters and I think we cannot rush children if they identify as trans by taking on medical interventions. But I don't believe either Harris or Walz advocate for encouraging these medical interventions in children. When I encounter a child who identifies as trans, I feel it is unkind to insist on using names or pronouns they don't want. I want those kids to feel safe. I don't want them to be hurt or ostracized. I want them to have trusted adults and spaces and resources they need. I don't think we lose anything by being patient and kind and considerate. We don't hurt anyone by helping them find belonging. These are children and they deserve space and time to grow and learn about themselves. They don't need their privacy to be politicized. That's why I'm voting Blue.

Healthcare: Reform needed but not so far as to be universal healthcare.
Our country benefits from a strong middle class. Make it possible for people to earn a decent living that pays for housing, education, and healthcare for themselves and their families. Policies that support the middle class will go a long way to strengthening this country.

Education: In favor of reduced/free college education for the trades -- in fact...take some of the illegal immigrants who have been here for over 10-15+ yrs (because realistically you can't deport them all) and educate them in the trades. Fix our education system and stop focusing on stupid issues that don't belong in schools. Teach tolerance and respect as a two-way street. Note: I actually like how Walz has approached education in MN -- except for teaching gender ideology in schools. Many parents voice their concerns: https://cbsaustin.com/news/nation-world/minnesota-parents-clash-over-teachers-discussing-gender-identity-with-students-stay-in-your-lane-osseo-area-schools-isd-279-lgbtqia-history-and-culture-resolution-lgbt-transgender and https://www.dailysignal.com/2024/06/11/concerned-daughters-safety-13-minnesota-school-districts-issue-transgender-guidelines-allowing-boys-girls-spaces/
I've treated you respectfully and want to take you seriously, but your repeated use of illegal immigrants and trans kids as some boogeyman makes you sound insincere. Are you just regurgitating right wing talking points?

The athletics thing isn't about education, but you had to mention it, so I'll respond. I have struggled with issue of trans athletes in women's sports. For now, I do believe we should keep women's sports for people who are born female, but I also say that with the caveat that we don't really know how to define that. It's not that simple. I also think you vilifying people with open minds is unproductive.

With all of the above, I will vote for Harris/Walz. They most closely align with my values. Their policies will strengthen the middle class and create opportunities for people to work hard and succeed. If you believe in this country and its ideals, then I think the choice is pretty clear.

The Democrats have bent over backwards to be right leaning (Biden, Clinton, Kaine, Lieberman, Gore, Obama, Kerry… these are not far left people); the same is never asked of the GOP. Not ever. Voters like you never ask that the GOP move left. You should ask yourself why you don’t think they should moderate.

lol-is that who he is? That guy is dumb as rocks. If that’s the conservative thought leader, the GOP is in even more trouble than I thought

Well, he's no Ben Shapiro

Have you ever listened to Ben Shapiro? You may not like what he has to say, but he’s very bright. And quite sharp.

He's a dumb person's idea of a smart person. Also, he looks funny. Head down, constantly bobbing.

I think Harvard Law probably disagrees with you. As would UCLA and Phi Beta Kappa. Where did you go to school?

Like Walz, I went to a state college. I'm all for a good education, but book learning isn't everything.

NP. It's always funny to see the party that decries elitism constantly fall back in Ivy credentials, like Harvard has never produced a dumb person.

He graduated summa cum laude from UCLA. But keep trying.

I'm just surprised to see the party that claims to represent the working class so impressed by Latin honors and prestigious degrees. Personally, I don't put much stock in them. I listen to what a man has to say and judge him by that. Shapiro has never impressed me. Good grades are never going to convince me to ignore what my eyes see and my ears hear.

It’s fine to disagree with him. But dismissing him by calling him dumb and stupid is disingenuous. He is neither.

Well, the good news is I don't need permission from you, Harvard Law, or UCLA to call people dumb when they seem dumb. He's either dumb or he plays dumb very well. You keep worshipping those credentials though.

You don’t need permission, of course. But it’s laughable that you think you can judge his intelligence better than Harvard. Or UCLA. Or Phi Beta Kappa. What do they call that? The arrogance of ignorance? Or something like that.

Voters like you never ask that the GOP move left. You should ask yourself why you don’t think they should moderate.

I have in my lifetime voted for both Democrats and Republicans.
I vote for who at the time I feel is best for the country overall, best represents the views of the country and best reflects my personal views.

I think both parties are invested in playing to the extremes and not really listening to what people actually want.
