That’s not where the lunch is, and if you think something is fishy about the strange car/man, you shouldn’t bring the kid into the house. There’s also no reason to assume Christine or the stranger would be in the basement that early in the morning. The natural place to look for her is first on the main floor, then upstairs, then basement last.

I agree but arguably they went in the basement b/c they thought it was safer. She didn't go in to get the lunch at that point- she already saw a strange car in the driveway.

I think a lot of people are missing what the intended “set up” by BB and AuPair. I’m sure their story is that AuPair called BB about the strange car bc he told her “he suspected an affair”. In their retelling, they weren’t saying they went into the house scared, just that BB went into confront affair partner. That’s why all this speculation about her entering the house isn’t what you would do when scared, doesn’t matter. Or whether she went to the basement or should have gone to the kitchen to make lunch, ect. shouldn’t be part of the speculation/narrative.

I thought the story was that BB was into being cuckolded. If it was supposed to be an affair then they could have created an Ashley Madison account, rather than Fetlife. And if you’re going to confront an affair partner why on earth would you bring the child into the home to witness drama? The AP’s story has lots of holes.

Suspects:
BB = Father, 38, federal law enforcement officer
AP = Au pair, 23, on a work visa from Brazil

Victims:
CB = Mother, 37, nurse
JR = Lured to residence, 39, unknown occupation

Relevant Others:
DD = Daughter of BB and CB, 4

Known facts:
BB and CB were married. BB and CB were parents to DD. AP was their live-in au pair. They lived in Herndon where, on the morning of February 24, CB was stabbed and JR was shot. CB was pronounced at the hospital. JR was pronounced at the residence. There was no forced entry. BB and AP had been having a sexual relationship for at least a period of 2-3 months prior to the murders. On October 27, AP was arrested after dropping off DD at the bus stop. AP has been charged with second degree murder for shooting JR. AP is being held without bond due to her flight risk as a Brazilian national, a recently-renewed Brazilian passport, and a near-expired work visa. No one is yet charged with the murder of CB.

Alleged facts according to AP:
The morning of the murders, AP left with DD at 7:00 AM because CB gave them tickets to the zoo. AP turned around because she forgot DD's lunch. While AP was gone, BB encountered JR stabbing CB. BB shot JR with his service-issued sidearm. At around the same time, AP returned to the residence. BB instructed AP to retrieve one of his own personal sidearms because JR was still moving. AP returned with the personal sidearm and shot JR again.

Alleged facts according to the commonwealth:
JR corresponded with a user on fetlife who invited him to the Herndon residence. While the fetlife user had the likeness of CB, the commonwealth alleges that the fetlife account was created by "another adult" in the home other than CB. The commonwealth acknowledges that CB and JR were known to each other, but have not elaborated on the exact nature of that connection. After the murders, AP not only kept living in the residence but also moved into the primary bedroom. BB and AP continued their relationship with AP taking on woman-of-the-house duties.

Alleged facts according to DCUM:
BB had been unfaithful to CB before AP. BB is keeping DD away from her maternal grandparents. BB and AP are murderous scumbag whackadoos.

That is what one story is, but not what the AP and her lawyers are saying. Things are getting confused on this thread: law-enforcement story, AP story, JR friends story, etc.

Has LE concluded that CB didn’t create the fetish account. I know we all speculate that but has LE concluded?

PP here who wrote the summary. I think we're both sort of right. AP saw JR enter the home, however it seems that BB was the first to physically encounter. The commonwealth seems very certain that someone other than CB created the fetlife user.

Magalhaes said she forgot the child’s lunch and went back to the house to get it. When she did, she said she [saw] Ryan pull up and go into the house. Magalhaes said she called Banfield’s husband who told her to wait and he would come home. Magalhaes’ lawyer said Magalhaes went into the house with Banfield’s husband and took the 4-year-old child to the basement. She supposedly dialed 911 at that point but didn’t know what to say to the emergency dispatcher, so she hung up. The lawyer said Magalhaes left the basement and that she and Banfield’s husband heard some sort of interaction involving Banfield and Ryan above them. They weren’t sure if it was consensual or not. Magalhaes said Banfield’s husband, who is a special agent for the IRS, pulled out his service weapon and went into the bedroom where he saw Ryan with a knife to Banfield’s throat.

As far as for the way that Magalhaes’ lawyer said Banfield and Ryan met and knew each other, prosecutors said that someone other than Banfield set up an account on a fetish website and that Ryan responded to it. They added that it was part of a plan that would allow Magalhaes and Banfield’s husband to end up together.

The Commonwealth asserted that BB was not in the house when AP shot JR. So, if they have proof of that it is irreconcilable with the version put forth by AP's attorney.

The article uses "Banfield" but VA seems to be asserting that it was not CHRISTINE Banfield who created the fetish profile. It may have been BB or AP, that level of detail was not shared in the bond hearing, or at least was not reported on.

I saw a white Toyota Camry parked in front of the house the other day. Not sure if that’s his car or not.

I think f*tlife was the easiest way to both "order up" a strange man to appear in their home and to smear both in death, part of the plan. AM not as likely imo.
