Really, what could go wrong with this idea

Eh. As long as people are buying they will keep selling. I honestly think this is a better idea than the Wessex’s bowing and scraping for decades for the brother who has been described as “like a stranger” (they have quite an age gap) gets onto the throne and streamlines him right out of a job and the title Prince Philip promised.

Crazy that William is “like a stranger” now when he and his family were like the family that Meghan never had just a couple years ago.

DP. You’re confused. In PPP, I think the stranger brothers are Charles and Edward. After all, the poster did write The Wessex

Got it, thanks. If William isn’t like a stranger yet, it seems that H&M are doing what they can to ensure he will be soon enough!

That was the PPs point. Edward has done everything right, at least according to royal standards, for 50 years. And he just got screwed out of the only accouterment he desired. After waiting 20 years for it.

To think that Harry should play nice and do what W wants for a happy future is like saying the former slaves of the South should be complacent because their former masters would ‘do what’s best’ for them out of the kindness of their hearts.

The Sussex stans have officially jumped the shark.

Not PP. be that as it may there is clearly no reward for loyalty in this family. Anne has been working like a dog for how long and when she dies her kids will be in a worse position financially than Harry’s. And just like Harry’s kids Anne’s kids do not seem close at all to Charles. Seems like a fundamental flaw in the way they do things.

Huh? Anne’s kids have very comfortable lives and will not be lining up for food stamps once their mother is gone. They will receive inheritances from their grandmother and have already received healthy sums from the Queen Mother. They may not live as large as William and Harry but they will still have incredibly privileged lifestyles. Why would they need to mooch off their uncle?

Because they're already mooching off their uncle?

Unless you think living in your mother's backyard next to your ex-wife while doing marijuana ads is living large for the fun of it.

They are using their royal connections to make money their way, just like the Sussexes are. Why is one acceptable to you but not the other? If not for the circumstances of their birth or marriage no one would give any of these people the time of day.

Just pointing out that their financial situations are precarious, will be worse when the Queen dies and even worse off when Anne does. King George didn't give any significant inheritance to Margaret, neither did her own mother (to the grandchildren - Sarah and David). They had to sell her home and belongings for a reason.

As for Zara and Peter, I will pay money to see who wins the drag-out fight of inheriting Anne's house. I think they both moved there just to stake a claim. They also have 5 kids between them.

I am the original PP and I think folks are misinterpreting what I meant. I am not suggesting that Harry needs to "play nice" and "be complacent" so he can get something from William. I think that if you are going to write down all your "lessons learned" then give it to your therapist. I really don't know how that is going to help him or is family in any way. It seems extremely ill advised to go through therapy and then turn around a write a book for the world to dissect. But of course the people around him are telling him it's a great idea because all they care about is $$$$$$.

I think Harry has been getting terrible advice throughout this. Has nothing to do with William. (WTH?)

?

How does $20 million not help his family?

Is $20 million worth your mental health?

He already has mental health issues so in his case…yes.

$20 million for his book deal is the baseline (they have no idea what it is and the royal rota almost had a coronary when they found out what the Netflix deal was).

But anyway - $20 million for the book, $20 million for her book, $100 million for netflix, $30 million for spotify. Yeah...I'd put up with a lot for $170+ million falling in my lap in a year's time.

They did not get $100 million upfront from Netflix lol. So there goes that theory.

The announcement said the proceeds of the book sale would be donated to charity.

Small tip - there's a different between the advance and the profits. If the advance was $20 million, then the profits (or proceeds) would be anything beyond that.

Too bad Edward didn’t embark on a career of trashing his family.

You know who did trash his family through friends talking to an Authorized Biography? Harry's Pa himself. Prince Charles.

It is the woeful, self-justifying, self-pitying story of a lonely childhood, a remote and relentlessly demanding father, a marriage into which Charles was browbeaten --

The book describes Philip as disappointed that his son was "soft," "a bit of a wimp," unathletic and uninterested in horsemanship. "The small boy was frequently brought to tears by the mocking banter" of his father, particularly at social gatherings, the book says. Nor did he find comfort in his mother, Queen Elizabeth, who is described as aloof and deferential to Philip in matters involving Charles.

Did Charles go on Oprah?

He did do a tv interview where he talked about how he only cheated on his wife after his marriage had “irretrievably broken down.” It was way worse than the Oprah interview and Charles is the heir to the throne.

Was that before or after Diana’s interview?

A year before.

Charles' interview admitted to the adultery. Diana's interview brought it home and named the AP.

Pretty much. I expect it. I find it amusing that the rota had no idea that this was coming, it was already finished, and its been under contract for a year without their knowledge.

They said Harry couldn't get away from their intrusive #palacesources, he proved them wrong. I think the move to the U.S. is the best thing he could have done.

So they left her and her children penniless? Wow - says a lot about the family, support and why Harry left.

As for Gatcombe being huge - sure, they could go the Weasley route of 2 siblings, a spouse, ex-spouse, the new girlfriend, 5 kids under 10, the nannies, the maids, etc all living under one roof.

I wonder who's going to be arrested for murder first? The ex-wife or the drunk husband?

Peter is both the oldest child and the only son. Surely according to British aristo rules he should inherit everything?

Why he has to air every single problem with his family in full view of the entire globe, like he's the only one who's ever suffered anything, is beyond me. This is not how you handle things and he's going to regret it eventually, if he ever digs his way out of the self-absorbed spiral fed by the grasping climbers he's surrounded himself with.

Yes his mother who he says he admires so would surely not admire what he has done to his sibling relationship and to his nephews and niece and cousins. Usually a red flag if someone upon meeting a love interest cuts off their entire family (and his spouse has as well (aside from her Mom)—seems to be her style). Huge red flag on his relationship to his wife.

The bigger the estate the greater the maintenance costs. I highly doubt they will be able to cough up the funds to do so absent financial assistance from Charles to do so. I agree that they are able bodied adults and could theoretically support themselves but they don’t really seem particularly keen to do so. I know that Zara is a former Olympian and her husband is a former football or rugby player. But what are their current jobs?

I think the funniest, the most spectacularly ridiculous claim to come out of Harry's mouth was the comparison he drew between Diana's fling with "nonwhite" Dodi and his marriage to Meghan. Like, my mother was hounded to death because she was in a relationship with a nonwhite person, and now they are doing the same and won't rest till Meghan is dead.

Like, you dolt, do you understand that if this comparison were to hold, YOU'd be the one to die? It's not Meghan who's in a relationship with a nonwhite person!

Let alone the galactically stupid claim that Dodi was a relationship.

Maybe maybe not. She didn’t exactly have a great relationship with her sister.
