Now expecting a girl and totally stuck on names.

You can totally name a girl Logan!

Logan is an airport. Not a boy or girl name.

And a city in Utah.

It is awful. Might as well name the kid Apple or North.

Logan doesnt bother me too much. To me these (all top 100 names) are worse:

Girls: Harper, Addison, Brooklyn, Kinsley, Everly/Everleigh
Boys: Easton, Greyson/Grayson, Hudson, Brooks

Parents name their daughters after the Everly Brothers?

My sister is an elementary school teacher and we have uproarious conversions about the latest wacky names for kids. She likes to mispronounce them on purpose when chatting with parents. Yes, partners, the teachers DO talk about your kids' names behind your back Laughter is a great stress reliever.

While I have zero issue with a teacher talking about the kids' names with her family or letting off steam about families, this is incredibly mean! I would suggest your sister go get a massage and find better ways to blow off steam than doing something that is generally considered a bullying technique.

What a bizarre take. Logan is definitely a name, and a relatively popular name at that. I grew up with a boy named Logan and went college with a girl named Logan. It’s an extremely popular name in Scotland. It’s the first name of the comic book character Wolverine and has been a name on several very popular TV shows.

Saying it’s not a name because you associate with a couple place names is like saying “Virginia is a state, not a girls name.” You don’t seem to understand how language and words work.

As the original Logan poster, I am very amused to come back to this thread and see how divisive it became and agree with the bold above. It would be one thing if we lived in Boston perhaps. Also appreciated the poster who commented on the popularity of the name Shannon in Ireland/Irish families. Maybe I’ll put it on my girl name list!

Shannon is not in heavy use right now, so it is a solid choice.

My daughter said there was one in her school, and it is honestly the first time I’ve heard it on anyone under 35 or so. She just thought it was fun her friend had her mom’s name.

What a great thing to post at a time when so many people are frustrated with teachers unions

Seamus. As in Wee Baby.

We referred to him as the Wee Baby Seamus so much during my pregnancy my MIL actually thought we were naming him Seamus. Which is a name I actually like and would've seriously considered if we hadn't already discovered the perfect name for our son.

(And yes this was an Archer reference, my H loved that show at the time.)

Fellow teachers and I love to make fun of the ridiculous kids' names.

Orwell is laughing in his grave at all the political correctness.

Umm, you DO know who Orwell is, right?

It is a name. But an ugly one in my opinion.

Reece, Olivia, Carys. I still love Carys, but my husband was a hard no.
