Boy - Spencer (we had one girl)
Girl - Gemma (thought it was too close to the uberpopular Emma and that people wouldn’t know how to spell/pronounce it. Still love it though.

This is the name I regret not using too!

Are you French or from a Francophone country? If not that name is super pretentious

My kids were born in 2000 (Grace) and 2003 (Mia). So some of these are a little dated but we also thought about:
Paige
Mara
Leah
Allison
Julia
Elena
Clara
Alexandra

Nora
Georgia
Carmella (was my grandmothers name and would have called her Millie as my grandmother was)

Runners-up for 3 dcs

Martin - not sure what we were thinking

Robert - would have been fine but we felt like we knew too many adult Roberts (close colleagues, etc.)

Linnea - I actually love this name but the name we picked fits her and the rest of the family better

There were no other boy names we both really liked besides the one we picked for our son (Henry). If our 2nd had been a boy we would’ve probably used the name Oliver as it’s the only other boy name we both sort of liked. Boy names were really hard for us!

For our daughter we strongly considered but didn’t use: Caroline, Lucy, Alice, Camille. I also really love the name Mary so it was top of my list but my husband doesn’t share my love for that name so it wasn’t on his list at all.

That’s a weird hot take. It’s the Hemsworth’s mothers name and she’s an Australian teacher...hardly what I’d think of as pretentious.
