Girls Clubs in Bethesda Area

I think parents are just looking for a decent team with decent coaches. Not one organization has that for every year. It is incredibly frustrating and trust and believe that the parents hopping around do not want to be. All they want is to find a decent coach that can help their kid improve without driving to Howard County. I hate that it has to be this hard.

Absolutely! There is clearly an MC person posting like crazy. Yes, they have hired better coaches this year and have kept the girls practicing through COVID. Problem is that they have teams where half the team is decent and half can barely catch and throw. Makes it hard to be competitive and incredibly frustrating for the decent kids when they make good plays only to have teammates throw the ball away.

This challenge is across many programs right now. Too many programs and teams, too many parents pushing their kids to play club that don't belong. The worst is those kids that are marginal never put in work to improve outside of team activities so the the team suffers, especially the better players.

100% agree!!! We are lucky to live in an area with so many programs and levels available. My daughter could never make a travel team and I'm happy that there are programs out there for her to continue playing through high school. I guess i just don't understand why everyone can't just let it be that there are lots of clubs with different missions and something for everyone. Based on what I read on here it sounds like there is definitely not 1 dominant club with 100% amazing teams across all age groups, 100% amazing coaches, 100% amazing administrators and 100% normal parents. Not to be cheesy but why can't we all just get along, let our kids play and enjoy it. Why does it always have to be such a club-bashing competition?!

Because we want our kids to get better....if we were in it for simply a good time we would save thousands and play rec. When you play club you have expectations and when those expectations are not met you need to hold an organization accountable.

100% agree here. There needs to be some hard conversations across some programs that need to think about merging, having less teams and being more competitive with quality coaching. There shouldn't just be 3 big programs with the amount of talent across the rest of the MD and VA areas.

But as long as the money is there they will be there to collect. I just don't get why parents are spending so much money when their kids would obviously fair much better on a rec team.

I just want to reiterate here that it is all about the coaching. As an organization BLC is top notch. If you are fortunate enough to be on a well coached team you could not ask for a better situation at BLC. Organizations where the administration is not forthcoming and the coaching is spotty.....that is where you do NOT want to be.

As a coach from another MoCo team that competes for the same girls. I would agree... mostly.

BLC is a solid program for their Blue teams; the true club teams. But they have done a massive disservice to people on the Orange teams. They should have stayed as the select teams. What they have done makes it seem they are purely after the money by making them a club team. Seeing the scores is disheartening and I can only imagine what the girls think.

BLC is also not honest about where the girls are going to go after 8th. Not all will make Capitals or another team.

And the that is sad for a club that won’t put most of its A teams in the A division.

I don't hold it against them that they don't put their A teams in the A bracket. Many organizations do not have teams in the A division at all and are only in the B divisions. I appreciate the competitive games in the B league.

Can anyone help to fill in these blanks. Any insight on where some of these teams are playing? Looks to me as if Next Level is getting great results but Bethesda has way more teams? I am wondering just how many teams there really are.

I don't know if you placed all of them properly BLC 2026 is not in A bracket of NGLL, so you need to move them down. I don't know about others.

It is hard to follow but I think they are placed right.... I see it as for the 2026 A teams -------- Bethesda NGLL B 4-2 ------- Next Level ? ----- MC Elite NGLL A - 1-4-1

Was shocked to see a forfeit so late in the season. Could it be covid related? Must not have had enough girls?

And I would have expected an MC win too.
