Woken up by neighbor’s barking dogs every morning.

I have a neighbor who does nothing more than take their dog to the front yard on a leash and let it back in after maybe five minutes. The dog is about 10 pounds, but it still needs a walk, if they aren't going to fence it to give it exercise. That seems really irresponsible to me, not the neighbor who lets their dog out.

dp You don't know what a neighbor's dog needs or not. If they are letting him out and giving love that may be enough. I have neighbors who never walk their dogs and they are well cared for and loved.

Not to mention, how can OP possibly tell whose dog it is? We have dogs on either side of us that bark, often mistaking one for the other, and we don't expect the neighbors to cow tow to us - that would be ridiculous! We say "oh, the (wild animal of the week) must be back - glad Fido noticed, so we won't let our cat out!" But I suspect you hate any animal that doesn't do as you say. amiright?

It sounds like OP needs to get out of her house more, which is why it was mentioned upthread that she is home all day and her only hobby is to complain. Hint: If you were not home day and night, you would not notice every little thing, like barking dogs.

OP, do you know what the dog is barking at? Is there perhaps something else you can choose to complain about? Call someone. Call a friend. My God.

Maybe you are sensitive to noise, maybe you grew up in close quarters with people who dislike/d each other, maybe now your DH makes too much money, and you think you can tell people what to do. I don't really know what your problem is, it just doesn't work that way. You are not realistic, and you don't like people calling you on it. You want people to tow your line. Again, and as other PPs have said, you live in civilization - be civil. If you don't like your neighborhood, move. It is that simple.

Have you tried talking to your neighbors? What did they say? Did you approach them in a friendly manner? Somehow, I doubt it.

I would understand if your neighbor was letting their dog out to stay out "all day" but that is not what you said - you said "incessantly". Big congrats on learning a four syllable word, first of all. Second of all, what is incessant to you (ie: any barking whatsoever) is not incessant to normal people, it seems. If the dog is not literally outside all day (ie: hours at a time, or more) then you need to suck it up. Life happens. Or move. I really don't care.

You don't sound reasonable.

How is it demanding and unreasonable to expect people to be responsible dog owners? It would piss me off too. I have a dog (and neighbors!) and if my dog barks when she is outside, I call her in. That is the polite and neighborly thing to do. Nobody wants to listen to your dog bark it’s head off outside.

It’s demanding if, like some posters, you expect to never hear dogs bark for more than a minute. I’d laugh in your face if you raised this complaint to me. And then point out all the annoying shit I have to listen to from your yard. You want silence, move to the middle of nowhere.

Amen to that. The world doesn't jump like your DH jumps, OP. Get used to it.

You two pp’s are the type of people who make the world a shittier place. Mission accomplished?

If this is the opinion from someone who expects to hear no noise that they don't like in a suburban or urban community . . . I can live with that opinion. Making it a "shittier place" for someone so unreasonable or demanding . . . not something I'm concerned about.

No kidding. OP has no justification for her demands, yet wants to attack other people? OP are you for real? You sound like a petulant child.

OP seem really flip and spoiled.

OP, maybe your neighbors don't like you.

Another of the "It's fine if it doesn't go on X minutes" people?

Dogs can be trained not to bark or to stop on a command. The problem is lazy owners who think like you do. "Dogs bark." Yes, they do. So the owner needs to ensure they don't bark when and where it disturbs people who did not choose to have that dog in their lives like the owner did.

Trained not to bark? Like at all?

And in order to give the command to stop they must have barked at least once.

You have unrealistic expectations of when dogs can bark.

Yes. My next door neighbors had no idea I had a dog.
