So happy Rita is getting more air time. I was disturbed seeing her be nice to Serena, but then glad she turned it around. I remember she had a son who died in the war, but we don't know which side he fought for.

I was really afraid that Rita was going to be sucked in by Serena’s tactics. Rita is so gentle and good hearted, and Serena knew exactly how to get to her- a child.

I so loved the scene where she is happily, peacefully eating sushi (Serena can’t do that- now who’s the free one?!)

I think Janine really showed up June in this episode. Took her down a notch. Also, Janine seems to be mentally stronger/less unhinged basket case as the season goes on.

I hope that Janine reveals to June that she figured out that her son is dead, vs June having to tell her the truth eventually. That wouldn’t be pretty.

He actually didn't require it - and told June she could say no. He's slimy and nasty but I don't think he "required" it despite saying he would.

June got her hands on his file, which said he died in a car crash not long after the founding of Gilead. June thought Janine was too fragile to handle the truth, so lied. That made this ep's flashback extra heartbreaking.

She could say no, but they would have to leave (was the subtext). Janine did what she did so that they could stay.
