The TikTok Teens are Mocking Us

This thread seems to indicate that Millennials are going to be as angsty as Boomers about aging.

For sure. I’ve noticed a running theme in a few meme accounts on Instagram where millennials think it’s cute to complain about “aging.” Like, “now that I’m 30, my back hurts and I want to go to bed at 9:30.” Real middle age is going to shatter them.

Not PP, but don’t you remember feeling like that at 30? Where it was your first real transition into getting older, where you couldn’t stay up as late or drink as much or whatever as when you were 23? I’m sure you complained about it too, at that age.

I'm the first PP. I'm an Xer who worked out of college with a large contingent of Boomers. I could see what was waiting for me at 30.

Sounds about right. Also weird they're proud of being a "young Millennial." All the crap Gen X and the Boomers hated about the Millennials was mostly that group, not the "Oregon Trail" older Millennials. Very odd.

Yes, the grasping at straws to pretend you’re still young...she’s a young Millennial! Not one of those gross old Millennials!

It’s going to hit so hard when she realizes she’s on the precipice of middle age and still spouting this “TikTok lol” shit. F-ing embarrassing.

But I never said my age. I didn’t say how old I am at all. You all just assume I’m a younger millennial based on... well, nothing really. I could be 42 or 27.

So...yeah. Thanks for clarifying that you’re the anonymous cringey poster we’re talking about. You don’t need to tell us your age. It’s pretty clear now that you’re an old person playing pretend.

Lol she’s probably a 40 something with a bitchy 37 year old boss who busts her entry level ass every.single.day. She and her younger millenial colleagues bond over their mutual work unhappiness and she thinks they’re pretty cool and copies their style. They make fun of her behind her back.

Wow, this thread’s really bringing out some winners.

Agreed. The older woman trying to sound like a teenager was particularly pathetic.

I have a beautiful house, I drive a luxury SUV, I can take amazing vacations. What do they have? Nothing. They’re kids.

Peak DCUM! Says the mom as she squeals out out of school drop off in her luxury suv.

I’m the PP they’re trashing. They’re very off base about everything - my age, occupation, etc. They have no reason to even think any of that other than I made some very accurate observations about millennials and it hurt their feelings.

To be fair, you were trashing them too. No one likes to be insulted. Also why be so coy about your age? This whole thread is like one big troll post.

I’m not being coy about my age. Nobody ever asked. They just started saying “she’s 34 and proud to be a young millennial” or “she’s 40 and her 37 year old boss makes her take out the trash.” I said there’s a huge difference between millennials born 1980-1985 and 1985-1992 and people lost it.

So what is your age, PP?

The funniest thing about this whole trend is it didn’t start as Gen Z bullying millennials. It started as Gen Z making commentary on fellow Gen Z kids. Millennials made it about themselves (as they and Boomers are known to do) and Gen Z responded. That’s why so much of the Gen Z commentary is saying like “we don’t gaf.” They weren’t talking about (to them) old people trying to cling to relevance through Gilmore Girls and iced coffee memes.

“Older millenial” here. There is a difference between the millennials that graduated in the 08 crash and those that graduated before. We didn’t have to go through the same shit younger millennials did to find jobs etc and so we are way more likely to have kids and houses at this point in our lives. However, a lot of the younger successful millennials went into startup world (which is hard, you have to give up your whole life), and are therefore cooler and more relevant because they haven’t settled down yet.

I was more in 84, and my younger brothers were born in 86, 87, and 90. Can definitely tell the difference.

Yes because they are children. If you need to feel superior you have more than a teenager, time to check in with yourself.
