Again, he personally and his party in the Senate paid hardly any price a month ago for acting this way, so there’s nothing to keep him from continuing. It’s not like he actually cares about people.

Yep. I watched the Senate the Democrats promised was about to be hit by a Blue Wave stay shockingly Red. Why would McConnell be afraid when the people voted him (literally) and his people back in - just over a month ago?

People don’t want to pay for college
They don’t want to pay for everyone’s health care
They don’t want to pay for it

Right or wrong, the democrats have lost the messaging and Mitch won.

I’m the OP above. I wouldn’t call the Biden landslide a loss. He managed to get a lot of swing voters who just couldn’t quite pull the trigger to vote blue for senate/house. People that normally voted straight red, did see that at least the WH could not be held by a republican any longer. Hopefully this latest showdown in the senate is instructive to Georgia voters who need the relief bill passed ASAP.

This has been said before. I can see ONE GA seat flipping blue. Not two. Then what? McConnell is still Senate Majority Leader. Oh and every program including small business loans, evictions protections, paid and sick family leave, and unemployment expired the day after Christmas.

How can you not see that something needs to be done now?

I do see that? I’m just putting blame on the GOP where it belongs.

Republicans have always been grinches. They have always advocated to take food out of the mouths of the poor. They all profess to be good christians, family values, etc etc.

I mean...the 2008 stimulus package was pretty pathetic. I think they gave $600 checks and said 'deuces'. Which is why there was a wave of foreclosures across the country.

You are right that Democrats lost the messaging, but there a lot of issues dividing us. Don't assume that everyone votes on those two issues. I think a convincing argument can be made on a number of
other issues. Conservatives on DCUM talk about those other issues all the time.

McConnell learned in the Obama years that obstruction is his friend. He will continue to obstruct as long as this is true. I hope Biden figures out how to make him stop obstructing. And I don't mean "reach out," or any such foolishness. I mean, "offer you can't refuse" sort of thing. There are mean low down nasty unfair tricks a President can use and I hope Biden is willing to use them.

They’ll survive. DC is planning cuts to WMATA but that doesn’t start until June. We need Covid Relief for the people now. The states can wait until Biden passes something in February.
