Secretary of State; book it.

State is in shambles after Trump. They need a leader that has both foreign policy experience and experience running a large, complex enterprise. Buttigieg has the potential, but not the experience. It's way too risky to trust the State Department right now to someone with Buttigieg's level of experience.

I don't know who it will be, but it won't be him. It probably won't be anyone who sucks up a lot of media attention either. That's simply not what State needs right now.

+1000. I think Biden might turn to Chris Coons.

Me too, I know Chris from working with him Delaware. He would be great.

Maybe Sec Labor?

No ugh. He’s very anti labor. And I’m not super pro unions myself but Kasich is a pretty extreme right to work anti labor viewholder. He’s actually pretty conservative overall really, hardly a Larry Hogan moderate. He just happens to also be anti-Trump.

Thank you!

I don’t know why people think it’s ok to have people with no experience running huge federal agencies.

Pete being the UN Ambassador is fine. SecState? No way.

I agree. But boy did 45 set the bar low for what experience meant. One thing about Pete I might add though, he used to work for McKinsey. Not saying that totally certifies him as a competent SoS, but he def has the chops and experience to fix messed up mgmt.

Says someone who has never been on the receiving end of a "management" consulting firm's attempts of "fix" messed up management.

This isn't anything to do with Buttigieg, whom I think has a lot of great qualities, it's just that McKinsey doesn't sway my opinion of him and his experience in the least. And I maintain that he is not the right person for State. I, personally, don't think Susan Rice is either, just because State needs to rebuild and heal. A very public persona is not that person. It needs to be someone senior and competent to can right the ship at home while representing the US with dignity and unwavering support of American values and ideals abroad...but who will never themselves be the story. Basically, if Biden weren't going to be President, it would be him.

John Kasich is not a moderate.

Here’s the best list I’ve seen. A lot of overlap with the long list a PP posted:

This is a good call. She has experience on the small business committee and will keep her status as a rising star. Would be a great resume stamp for a future governor or senate run!

If McConnell complains then Biden can point out that Trump set the precedent with Chad Wolf, Ken Cuccinelli and 15 other appointment positions that the Senate never approved and McConnell didn't complain about it then, so clearly McConnell approved of the procedure and established the precedent.

There is no one that will argue with her credentials. She would be one of the most experienced Secretaries of State to ever step into the position. She could hit the ground running and would be able to immediately start righting the horrible degeneration of the US foreign policy reputation that Trump and his rotating clown car of Sec States caused over the last 3.5 years.

She’s awful though. Poor judgement and poor temperament. Maybe Samantha Powers would be better

I don't think that's fair. I think the problem was Hillary Clinton, not Susan Rice. Rice took the fall for Hillary Clinton and was scapegoated in place of Clinton. It wasn't her fault and she was not given the preparation to deal with the aftermath of Clinton's problems.

She was the National Security Adviser. Come on.

Yes and the Benghazi affair was considered a major F-up and someone senior was going to need to be sacrified. She was the choice because they were trying to save Hillary Clinton for a run for POTUS since she stepped aside for the party to push Obama in 2008. So, they sacrificed Susan Rice to save Hillary Clinton. Such bad decisions. Clinton should have been the one to take the fall, and then we would have had Biden in 2016 who would have won then instead of now and we would not have had to have 3.5 years of horrible leadership and racism.

Pete is going to Veterans Affairs.

That is the word on the street in the agency.

Susan Rice could not be confirmed. Biden won’t risk a losing battle fresh out of the gate. I way would he appoint her as Acting either. It’s a dead end, can only be done for x number of months and would create too much instability. She’ll have to settle for Senior Advisor, if he even wants her—they disagreed on a lot plus her temperament issues.

Oops.

Post above in the wrong format.

Pete is going to Veterans Affairs.

That is the word on the street in the upper levels of the agency.

Kaisich is closer to Trump than you think. He is far from a moderate.

Absolutely not.

Why? I am pretty far left but I still think he will be a good Sec of State.
